Also, with rumblings of Aqua-man purchasing the Heat, and an unhappy relationship b/w Van and the Chi-pups, I reckon there will be a quite a few changes within this organization next summer.

ECHL
Fort Wayne 2 Kalamazoo 1
Anthony did not play
Grenier 0 points, even
Mallet 0 points, -2
Rai did not play
Sauve 0 points, even
OHL
Kingston 2 Belleville 8
Gaunce 0 points, even
A little disappointing that in an 8 goal game, Gaunce is held pointless.

Yeah there's a long way to go yet but there's at least reason for hope. What I like is there appears to be some serious size up front in our future.Southern_Canuck wrote: Gaunce (18), Jensen (19), and Corrado (19) definitely seem like they could become competent NHLers...
I'll be over the moon if MG can score the home run he's after in the Luongo trade (there's a certain big young center down in Florida that would fit right into our big young group). No matter who we get, I''m all for MG taking his time and not settling for whatever we can get ASAP...like certain folks here want. Too critical a move for our future to be dicking around with it just because fans/media want an end to the "circus".
If MG can surprise us all with that home run, and damn if only we could've scored Schultz, can you imagine our outlook now.

Ha - that's exactly what I thought when I saw it - all year they are pulling goalies with 2 or 3 goals against, and then...?Aaronp18 wrote:Man they left him in there for all 8.Southern_Canuck wrote: Honzik was the backup (Bureau 43 saves on 51 shots)

It was probably because Cape Breton has another game against PEI tonight.

Re: Prospects Thread 2012-13
Guess you were right, they knew it was gong to be another shooting gallery and wanted at least one guy rested.
Man, this is old school QMJHL on how to develop goalies. Terrible teams and a ton of shots.
Re: Prospects Thread 2012-13
I'm curious....a question for all you guys who are familiar with the Wolves. There have been rumblings that Canuck prospects are not getting the developmental game time they need because the Wolves do not see prospect development as a priority. This perspective does tie in with the reputation of the organization from the days when it was Atlanta's AHL team. Is this really true? There does seem to be a difference over the past couple of years compared to Moose days...
Last year some people were complaining about MacT and his coaching. This year it's Arniel. Two different coaches getting similar complaints? Coincidence, or does it point to an organizational "attitude"?

Re: Prospects Thread 2012-13
Once again, thanks to the posters who keep this site. I love following prospects and miss the old Hockey News where they kept everything to do with stats in all the game.
I gotta say, we may not have a franchise player out there, but overall we seem to be developing some good ones. Gaunce, Corrado, Jensen, Cannata and so on.
Does anyone know why so many of our prospects are in the ECHL as opposed to the AHL? Read something to do with the Wolves and Canucks in that they cannot get along. Do we not own the Wolves or is it an arrangement??
I appreciate the info from Orcasfan but I still do not hear any story. As they point out, Arniel and Mac both getting hell yet both are quality coaches.

Hey SC, do you know why so many of the college guys aren't playing ? is it because of injury or coaches decision ? Thanks

Re: Prospects Thread 2012-13
Is it safe to say that Labate is not looking so good?
And can we please finally write Rodin off?
It looks like Archibald is our best prospect on Chicago right now, while the rest play down in the ECHL. Great for development. The Chicago experiment has to come to an end, what happened to the days of old like with the Manitoba Moose or Syracuse Crunch when you used to look down the line-up and see that 90% of the players were Canuck draft picks.

“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Ben Hutton (Maine) is out with an upper body injuryTDA Rum wrote:Hey SC, do you know why so many of the college guys aren't playing ? is it because of injury or coaches decision ? Thanks
Matthew Beattie (Yale) is a coach's decision (as a freshman he is having trouble cracking the lineup)
It's not unusual for freshman to compete for a place in the lineup, however I didn't think Yale had that strong of a forward lineup... we'll have to wait until next season to see if Beattie can earn a regular spot.
Wesley Myron (BU) - Wow, he has left university to turn pro, and is expected to sign with Kalamazoo (ECHL)...!
This is unexpected - I don't know if this will turn out to be a great choice for him.
