11/12 Injury Thread
And so it begins...
Rome, who was suspended for his open-ice hit on Boston forward Nathan Horton in the Cup final, suffered a broken finger early in the third period of a 4-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks at Rogers Arena.
Pinizzotto, who has never played a regular-season game in the NHL, had been making a strong push to grab one of the fourth-line roster spots up for grabs with the Canucks. He suffered a left shoulder injury after a collision with big San Jose defenceman Douglas Murray

So, Pinnizott's shoulder was popped back in. Is this an injury that is a few days with it being sore, or is he out for a few weeks.......

I don't think the prognosis is all that good to be honest. I mean it's not like he just suffered a harmless concussion. We're talking shoulder injury man!Corb wrote:So, Pinnizott's shoulder was popped back in. Is this an injury that is a few days with it being sore, or is he out for a few weeks.......

Re: 11/12 Injury Thread
Hamhuis and Malhotra are ready to roll
excerpt:
Four players missed Monday practice.
Alex Sulzer was in Europe attending the funeral of a close friend, believed to be Robert Dietrich, who died in the Sept. 7 Lokomotiv plane crash in Russia, and was to rejoin the club today; Aaron Rome will miss four to six weeks with a broken finger on Sunday; Nolan Baumgartner broke his foot blocking a shot Sunday and will be out four weeks; and Steve Pinizzotto is out indefinitely after dislocating his shoulder on Sunday.
Hmmm... no mention of Kesler, Raymond, or Bitz.

Re: 11/12 Injury Thread
And this is why MG loaded up on D-men last year despite the heavy payment. You not only have to have depth but depth that can play. You know guys can play, you just don't know what the coaches are thinking. With our injury history I would not be surprised if MG continues to find more defensive depth as this season progresses. If we have to rely on some of our depth right now for any long periods we're in trouble.
Not only are other teams stocking toughness to emulate the Bruins but they're grabbing as many d-men as possible to emulate last year's Canucks.
I hope tonight's lineup just plays shinny. Can't afford to see anyone go down.

Re: 11/12 Injury Thread
Downer.
Surgery puts Byron Bitz out of Canucks picture
excerpt:
Bitz has been out the entire preseason with groin problems.
Head coach Alain Vigneault revealed Wednesday it’s because he needed to undergo another surgical procedure.
“I’d say he has a couple more weeks here before he starts to skate,” Vigneault said.
“The surgery didn’t kick in and he had to get it done again.”
That’s rough news for Bitz. It’s his fourth procedure in a year. Worse, he’s missed out on his best chance to make this team.

As a result of the Rome injury, the Canucks have recalled Yann Sauve.

Yeah, too bad about Bitz. I had him pencilled in for the 12/13 slot.
