Hey if anyone thinks Trump brought any stability to the Middle East they might want to think again.
At first glance it might be the one area that Trump didn’t obviously fuck it all up. If you look at pulling out of Afghanistan/Iraq/Syria and think “yeah that’s cool, we (the west) should never have been there in the first place” (some might wonder what would have happened had the Supreme Court not shut down the recounts in Florida and AL Gore had been president when 9/11 happened.)
But you look deeper and all that Trump has done is align the region’s allies deeper with Israel and sold a ton of high tech weapons to the the coalition.
It appears to be some kind of peace but it’s just hardening the lines.
Syria/Turkey/Iran v Israel/ Saudi / Gulf States
The Iran nuclear deal was way better at building a broader consensus and if one looked closer at the treaty that trump pulled out of, one might find that that treaty probably prevented the US from arming Iran’s enemies.
If trump truly was a populist who was outside the swamp and all that blatant horseshit, yeah maybe there was a chance but he isn’t a populist, he is an elitist.
For a true populist look no further than the Bern. That’s who should be president.
