US Erection 12 *AND* 16

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

We can go "nack and forth all day" because indeed there is no scientific consensus on anthropogenic climate change.

Climate change has been occurring since long before mankind was a factor.

The Paris Agreement had zero chance of reversing the current climate change trend.

The scientific consensus among astronomers is that a new Maunder Minimum (mini ice age) is on the horizon.

You can believe whatever you want, but you should be vigilant in this day and age to ensure you haven't been brainwashed.
No consensus according to those that don’t want there to be a consensus you mean.
Nope, there is either a “Scientific consensus” or there isn’t

… and in the case of anthropogenic climate change, there isn’t.

But “Scientific consensus” is an oxymoron (no not talking about you Reef)

Opinions have nothing to do with "Science"

... so really, who gives a fuck about a Scientific consensus amirite?

Consensus or not, you must be happy that your orange hero is boosting coal and stalling renewables. It just makes sense to keep filling the air with toxins, right? :D

You must be doubly proud of the incredible choice he made for SCOTUS.

If by 'dirty politics', you mean having a hearing about a suspected rapist getting on the highest court in the land, then I guess so. But of course, if the repubs had not been playing 'dirty politics' and had even a single hearing for Garland, then I might not be laughing so hard at your sad, sad attempt to once again deflect.

He's not "a suspected rapist" :scowl: and Blasey Ford is a hardcore political activist mounting a smear campaign, nothing more.

Ever notice he is involved with “EVERY” major discussion and always on the wrong side?

to blatantly say there is no climate change is the arrogant part.
Knowing Reefer2 as we do, it is fair to assume he has no clue as to what "anthropogenic" means

... and is too lazy to look it up.

Climate change has been ongoing for over 4.6 billion years. The catastrophic events in earths history are due to geologic and or cosmic events. Species have come and gone. Mass extinctions have occurred. Earth kept rolling along as did life on Earth. To think our insignificant species can have a lasting effect is to be on the arrogant side of the debate.
Straw man. No-one is trying to make a lasting effect in terms of millenia. For the most part people are thinking of the immediate future, i.e. their kids and grandkids.
Princely the shortsighted arrogant belief that natural processes can be reversed in order to perpetuate a species in stasis.
The nice thing about natural processes is that they are very slow, giving mankind time to adapt. It's an acceleration of the change that we want to avoid.
Mass extinctions like the K/T boundary didn't happen in an instant, except in geological time, an instant.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

There is an allegation and until it’s proven to be true or false how can kavanaugh sit as a Supreme Court judge?

The answer is he can’t. If a teacher was accused even falsely he would be on leave until it’s sorted out. Should t a judge be held to a higher standard ?

Not relevant to a climate change discussion. Unless, of course, you are saying that despite mankind's ability to adapt in geological time to non-anthropogenic climate change, it's pointless since we'll probably be obliterated by an asteriod anyways.

Of course our insignificant species cannot have a lasting effect on the climate on earth, that's not the issue.

The issue is that we could quite possibly manage to render ourselves, most mammals, birds and amphibians extinct within two or three generations, if we do not attempt to slow the current anthropological heating.

Once we're gone, the heatwave caused by our bringing out carbon from the ground and spreading it in the atmosphere will subside within centuries and won't probably be more than an insignificant blip in the climate chart of all time.

The big stuff is caused by completely different factors. But we're not talking geology now, we're talking about desertification, forest fires, flooding and other minor details in the great scheme of things, yet minor details that could render the planet more or less inhospitable to us.

Well done, no doubt this is the exact reasoning some folks would use before throwing down a false accusation.

Wait until the last possible moment in proceedings and then lay down a false accusation = stall tactics.

And of course smear campaigns against one's perceived enemy have their own rewards.

I call this dirty politics...
