Trump’s advisers, despairing of their inability to educate the president, have taken to using television as the preferred vehicle for their tutelage. The Washington Post reports that Jeanine Pirro’s Fox News program is the show of choice for this purpose. “Aides sometimes plot to have guests make points on Fox that they have been unable to get the president to agree to in person. ‘He will listen more when it is on TV,’ a senior administration official said.” Pirro duty is considered important enough that “officials rotate going on Pirro’s show because they know Trump will be watching — and partially to prevent him from calling in himself.”

A trade war with China would be really messed up for us. They own Volvo cars these days....

Basically, I hope there won't be any trade wars. It's bad for every one involved.
Free trade is the only sensible option.

That being said, I think Trump is dead set on a trade war with China.
The poor bastard has a very poor understanding of economics.
He thinks it's the same thing as business administration, and as someone who has studied both at the university, I can tell you it is not.

He hinted at renogotiating the US debt, which is sort of what he has kept doing with his companies; borrow a lot of money, run the company into the ground, renege on contracts with subcontractors, threaten to go bankrupt, renegotiate the loans to pay cents on the dollar, go bankrupt anyway, walk away a rich man with the entire battle ground in ruins...

There is a reason American banks have shunned him for at least a decade, and most of his financing comes from Russian banks.

Now, if he were to do the same thing with the USA as he has done with his businesses, it would be a disaster for anyone living there. Or elsewhere.
And basically, that's what he wants to do.

Which is why his chief economic advisor quit the same day that Trump announced he was going ahead with the steel tariffs.

It's madness.

Who is it bad for reef? Not American steel companies...

Remember reef he is not your president he does what he does for his country not the other countries.

So higher prices coming for American manufacturers, and in turn consumers.

And of course, an increase in tariffs on US exports, so yes - US steel companies will benefit, but there will likely be more harm than good to the overall economy.
