MLB playoffs

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Go Braves!

Hope Alex Anthopolous wins it and Jays fans go into meltdown.

Hey, Vincenzo. You gonna be happy if Alex A. and his Braves pull this off?

lol I wish I had tuned in for that.

That Hollywood Indian music and tomahawk crowd thing has always bugged me no end. I remember Ted Turner and Jane Fonda doing it seemingly completely unselfconsciously up in the owner's box.

Well that's just it Don. The blind spots some of these Hollywood progressives exhibit is really peculiar. And Ted is certainly a member of the neolib media elite himself with all that that entails.

I’d like to see it. I’m a big Freddie Freeman guy. Still a bit sour at the Astros antics of a few years ago. AA did a solid job in Toronto and he’s doing a solid job in Atlanta. I still can’t believe the Braves only won one WS with Smoltz, Glavine, Maddux and Jones. Ridiculous!

I don’t think the Jays fans have some axe to grind with Anthopolous. He got shoved out by Shapiro. I’m no huge Jays fan but I sure like a lot of their players right now. A lot more likeable than the 92 and 93 teams.

Are you serious? I like some of the kids too, but those championship teams had it all and a boatload of swagger.

They may seem cocky to other fans, but I remember them as pretty likeable. My favourite was Olerud. Much much more likeable than the Bautista, Donaldson teams.

Buster Posey retired today.

A credit to the Giants, MLB and an honest, hard nosed ballplayer.

Only the second player in MLB history to win rookie of the year, an MVP and 3 championships.

The other being Pete Rose.

Buster Posey was a gamer. Hell of a player. I guess the body was breaking down too much. He still had game. Those Giants teams were damn good. Mostly on the backs of Posey and Mad Bum. Mad Bum is now a shell of his former self. Not even very old. The guy I liked on the Giants back then was Brian Wilson. My god is that dude hilarious.

The Texas Rangers just handed out half a billion dollars to 2 their DP tandem for the next several years (one of them an ex Jay).

And Scherzer gets 43.33 per over 3 to join the Mets.

While Ray gets 23 over 5 in Seattle.

Generosity reigns Supreme pre-lockout.....

So it’s ok for David Ortiz to jam a needle in his ass because he’s Big Papi. He loves everyone and he smiles a lot. Couldn’t catch a cold at 1B. Did he even own a glove his last few years? Great hitter but he also got popped for roids. He couldn’t play a position.

Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds probably two of the best 20 players to ever play the game got snubbed a final time. They both got dinged for roids but unlike Big Sloppy they were assholes to certain media members. It’s a joke. You have players in there who were known users like Mike Piazza, Jeff Bagwell, Ivan Rodriguez. But they aren’t assholes so they got a free pass. Like where the fuck is Jeff Kent? Not a juicer but definitely a prick. He should be in but the writers don’t like meanies.

If Pete Rose was willing and able to craft a proper apology to MLB and the fans he should also be in. Rob Manfred is another idiot going back to Selig and the other Neanderthals that have run MLB.
