CC Random thread

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

I should have asked if Chad is the Jones dude Doc referred to.

But I believe Doc already drove him out of the 'hood.

Other than the cover they did for Elton John, I’m not a fan. Curious how a band like that gets a ton of run down south while far superior bands like the Hip, April Wine and Blue Rodeo got ignored.

Before I knew who they were I heard them on C-Fox doing a fully acoustic version of Leader of Men.

The performance was raw, from the acoustic evolutionary roots of the song, had a decent hook and was actually not bad.

Then I learned who they were.

Not so much thanks.

In answer to your question...because we are a more down to earth society than the US and we have better taste.

Their pop culture is horribly tainted with bubble gum.

There is a lot of good, very, very good in fact, but some of that shit is downright embarrassing.

Although we do have Bieber.

But he's more popular down there.

Plus he's a Leaf fan so fuck him.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Really? You don't get it?

The Hip, April Wine, and Blue Rodeo, weren't classic 4-chord pop writers. Nickelback wrote anthems that require far less musical skill than the stuff those 3 bands of yours wrote. You have to give them the nod though in terms of ability to write songs that had very catchy hooks. That's what sells down south these days (for the last 25 years or more actually), simple stuff that you can easily sing along to because that sticks in your head. It's all part of the brain washing.

I've never been a Nickelback fan, but there are a few songs of theirs that are fun to listen to at times.

In terms of quality, no question.

In terms of popularity in 'Merica? Well there's some room for debate there eh wot.
