The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Pretty soon every holiday will be given a number, holiday 1, holiday 2.
We cannot have a vacation named after anyone from our past since everyone is linked to something bad.
Yes, it is out of fucking control reef
Trump can't change hunting laws in Africa only whether or not pieces of legal hunting carcasses can be brought home or not. People are up in arms thinking he will decemate various species with his new law. It changes nothing for fucks sakes, I am embarrassed for us as a species

Nah,the slippery slope argument doesn't hold water.
I totally get why the people in Ukraine and Poland don't want statues of Stalin or Lenin, or why the Iraqis tore down the ones of Saddam Hussein. Or why there aren't any statues of Hitler in Germany. And it is definitely odd that there are places in the US where they still have statues honouring traitors who rebelled against their own nation.
Here in Sweden we don't rename holidays. We still call them Yule and Midsummer even though the Christians have tried to highjack the holidays and rename them. No such luck. We're sticklers for tradition here. We celebrated the winter and summer solistices way before Christ was born, and we continue to decorate trees at Yule despite it being condemned in the bible and we continue to raise maypoles and dance around them at Midsummer.
This Sunday we will again raise the world's biggest Yule Goat at the castle square here in Gävle!
Our traditions are here to stay.

Wow, one guy after another are falling for sexual mis conduct.
Not being a woman (don’t think about it Doc) and never one to be a position to use my influence to get sexual favours is it really that bad. I may have been a little more “go get em tiger” when I was in my 20’s but I believe it was always consensual. Today not so much.
Nah, much older than that. Many think it's a remnant of Thor worship. As you all know, the carriage he rides through the sky is drawn by the goats Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjostr. Considering that another guy who today has a central role in Xmas celebrations also rides through the sky in a vessel drawn by horned animals, it's hard not to notice the parallell...
Others think it has even older common Indoeuropean roots though, as yule goats are not just a Nordic thing, but present throughout Eastern Europe as well, despite their Slavic roots. I can't really tell.
I just know that up till the mid twentieth century it was still common in Scandinavia that xmas gifts were delivered by a man dressed as a goat rather than Santa. Today the goat is merely ornamental though, and Santa has more or less established a monopoly on gift giving. Although in Finland they insist on calling Santa Joulupukki, which actually means Yule Goat. Maybe the horns are still there beneath his red hat?

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.
