It's getting warm

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

That's why this is as far east as I'm going. :D

This is probably counter to the June we had in the 40s this summer!

I don't mind a little stretch of cold like this. We'll hit the ponds and play some hockey.

We'll be a little colder here but not much, usual -20c cold front this time of year. Bought a good snowblower last year that makes life much easier for the kid. Unless he sleeps in, then some sorcery magically turns it into a snow shovel.

-18 yesterday morning
-9 this morning

Should be getting another 20cm of snow before Christmas.

I have an uncle who lives in GF now in an RV park down by the river. You should go say hi and smoke a fattie with him. He's got a 90s Tahoe and an angry blue heeler dog

Temperatures may reach 40 degrees in London today.
The highest temperature ever recorded in Britain is 38.1.

Meanwhile forest fires are raging in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Greece.
More than 1000 people have died from the current heatwave in Spain where the temperature reached 45 degrees in Madrid yesterday and it is feared it may reach 50 this week.

It’s hot.

It will be hitting 100 again here in Nebraska this weekend, but thankfully I'm going to Vegas, where it will only be 110. :) #dryheat

We’re running out of time. And water.

Not a huge immediate problem for large parts of Canada and Scandinavia, but if, or rather when, large areas near the equator dry up, billions of people will need to relocate, which will cause a true migration crisis that will be on a completely different scale than the trickle of refugees from war zones and oppression we see today.

That’s why we need to massively increase defence spending in Canada…..army up to keep them out.

A longer report on the increasing problem of water scarcity. Must see stuff.

Desert cities like Phoenix and Las Vegas are no longer feasible when the Colorado River no longer delivers what it used to.
Ground water levels in Bavaria have dropped 13 meters over the last 30 years. California is a mess, and let’s not even start talking about places like Afghanistan… Drought and water scarcity are already contributing factors to migration in parts of the world, and I’ve seen strong arguments that it was one of the leading causes of the war in Syria.

There are even problems in Saskatchewan that you may need to consider when you decide where to build your walls. :|
