NFL Thread: Thoughts on the game south of the 49th

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Legit question SKYO, as a North American first nations person do you, or family/friends, find the sports teams names offensive?

Once I seen those fans start cutting off mascot's symbols heads etc of those 'Native' named teams, that's when I moved off the fence to yeah lets change these names. Additionally those fans creating/mocking Native songs etc.

For friends/family - changing the names of those teams wasn't high on their priorities in life, but they seen the negative views and understood why those NotYourMascot hardcore types point of view. In the end, corporate got the message, understood, started the process to change the names....And fans don't seem to give a flying fuck now lol, at first people were butt hurt, but don't care now, and just want their teams to win like any other fan of pro sports.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Cutting off mascot's symbols heads? WTF? I hadn't heard anything about that at all.

...good times to be an NFL fan.

There is some very intriguing as well as stellar quarterback play in this league.

The athletes just keep getting better.

At this stage any of a dozen teams could win the SB this year.

There's two of those QB's I referred to right there.

Cardinal Kyler Murray and Josh Allen.

Two completely different in size and style (although Allen can (very well) and will run) but both highly dynamic and successful QB's.

The coaches couldn't be more different yet both epitomize their QB and team.

Two good clubs to follow for sure.

Arizona vs. Rams would be a good rivalry to watch for over the next couple of seasons.

In fact they play Dec. 13 in AZ.

No Covid and that's a trip the fellas and I would possibly take.

Few rounds of golf and an NFL game over 4 or 5 days refuels your jets.

Happy for long suffering Bills fans.

Great to see Allen shut up the mouthy Baker Mayfield with his play.

The league has some great young QBs to be sure... and dinosaurs like Brady & Rodgers still going strong.

You can be celebrated as a slasher, just not as a racist slasher.

Watching Bengals vs. Ravens.

Cincinnati has perhaps found themselves a football team.

The league is trending towards aggressive, look outside the box young coaches and they have one in Zac Taylor.

LSU alum Joe Burrows and Ja'Marr Chase appear a legit, talented offensive duo with a great future....

Their D coordinator is showing his mettle in prepping a great game plan to contain Lamar Jackson.

The freaking Bengals ffs!

This league is rapidly changing and becoming far more dynamic before our eyes....

John Madden took it to the end zone today.

A friend sent me these Madden quotes in honor of the legend......

"Hey, the offensive linemen are the biggest guys on the field, they're bigger than everybody else, and that what makes them the biggest guys on the field."

"Here's a guy who can use his arms and legs at the same time."

"If the quarterback throws the ball in the end zone and a wide receiver catches it, it's a touchdown."

Solid gold John.

Madden..

At some point you just say, call in the dogs and put out the fire, the hunt’s over.

You got one guy going boom, one guy going whack, and one guy not getting in the end zone.

That’s worse than a ‘Boom.’ That’s one that loosens your teeth.

The road to Easy Street goes through the sewer.

When you do lose your hat, you don’t want your head in it.

Don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon.

When you win [as a coach] you get to be a genius. But if you look at it, you’re a guy that was a PE major in college. Your best class was recess, and then you become a coach. When you win some games you’re a genius. You go from being good at recess to genius.

Butkus could have been a Belushi or Belushi could have been a Butkus.

If you never know who did it, it’s always the guy without his shirt on.

Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble
