what happened to the Concave Hollow Earth thread??

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

NO.... I was the thread-starter!

I'm thinking either we struck a nerve with the Reptoids....

or with the intellectual fascists of the "scientific community".

Or............ perhaps they're one-and-the-same? :look:
Repressive authority invites rebellion by the prolitariate. :eh:

Carrying on, there were a number of tangents to pursue, depending upon which theory you subscribe to.

In particular, it seems that you were about to elaborate on how to construct a bomb shelter that converts to a sundeck.
The spectre of WW3 was also raised, & although this is worthy of a thread all by itself, there is an important tie in to said construction project.

The sundeck may be the answer to you're namesake's quest .......how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb.

Hey Doc, let's not get back to that old 'fascism' chicken (the leftists) or the egg (the righties) argument again!

BTW I had a discussion with a professional colleague about our 'world' as it stand currently and he made a comment about how he sees the US as a place with similar ingredients to pre-Nazi Germany. I countered him with the view that the Tea Party wants nothing to do with 'nationalism' of services, utilities, etc... they want to de-regulate everything and more importantly decrease government.

Well this prompted him to say that it was not the Tea Party who were the driving force but more the economic conditions which would exact some sort of change and rise to some form fascist action. So we bantered about back and forth with little discussion about the origins of fascism but more about how a crumbling society and economy will manage itself and what is created in the aftermath.

I could never go to that place of Americans embracing some sort of socialist agenda even thought the 'ingredients' may exist to move in that direction. It appears the more reasons to 'socialize', regulate the uncontrolled aspects of American economics and society the more the right side digs in to hold onto what they consider basic blocks of their core foundation. In the end I said I felt there was more evidence to say a social class 'civil war' could happen before some sort of fascist revolution but even then it's a long, long shot. Things would have to go terribly wrong for that to happen.

As one of my American friends always used to say was that the Constitution was built around 'checks and balances' to prevent oppression and harm. His motto was don't fuck with the Constitution it works, 'checks and balances' yet those that cling to it seem to want to remove so many 'checks and balances' in financial and business markets, seems ironic to me.

So what says the good Doctor? Do you think there are the 'ingredients' for change within the nation below us?

First of all Pete, Fascism is a notoriously hard animal to nail down.

*drives a wooden stake through a bunny's heart*

Like I say, the commies were the first to embrace it... but eventually there was also some right-wing embracement goin on. The experts tell us that Fascism is misunderstood much much more than understood. The only thing everyone agrees on is, as you referred to, the nationalistic aspect.

And we all know that as far as nationalism goes, USA USA USA is at the top of the scale.

But to get to full-out-fascism, USA would obviously need to go through a few changes!

You ask if “the ingredients for change” are there.

Of that there is no doubt in my mind.

Economy in turmoil, national debt through the ceiling, and enraged terrorists circling.

(don’t worry Pete, I’m not going to mention the still-there commies looking for opportunity)

Could the USA eventually embrace Fascism?

Ummm does a bunny chase its tail when it hears WHOOSH?

Does the Pope shit in a bunny’s head?

They only question is: Would it be right-wing or left-wing fascism?

On this I tend to agree with George Carlin when he said:

"When fascism comes to America, it will not be in brown and black shirts. It will not be with jackboots. It will be Nike sneakers and smiley shirts. Smiley-smiley."

While the dictatorship of the prolitariate might be considered a form of fascism,
I wouldn't credit the commies with the concept of the prolitariate, or of classes.
They have been around since the Roman empire. They are also hallmarks of fascism.

However, the commies must be guilty in some way. :P
