Figured I'd bring one up from the Official band of CanucksCorner to get us ready for the game tonight.

As Angela Merckel stepped down after leading Germany for 16 years, she had to pick a song thst should be performed by a military orchestra at the farewell ceremony. She picked ”Du hast den Farbfiilm vergessen” by Nina Hagen! Respect!
Now, as fascinating as it is that this grey eminence picked a punkrock song, this is early Nina Hagen and not that extreme, and Angela is actually just one year older than Nina, and both grew up under communist rule in East Germany, so this song originally came out in 1974 when Angela was just 20 years old, and I’m sure this was something that turned people’s heads. I’m sure this song has a special connotation for Angela and was something she listened to in her 20’s, having no idea that the wall would crumble 15 years later and that she one day would be the leader of a unified Germany.
Still makes my day that she picked a Nina Hagen song for this moment of pomp and circumstance though!
