David Robert Jones aka Bowie charted his 4th UK #1 album with Scary Monsters (and Supercreeps) which included an homage to Space Odditys Major Tom from his 1969 LP entitled, simply, David Bowie.

The first version I was ever aware of way back in those golden days of yore was local artist Tom Northcott's. Like many of Northcott's single releases, this one received some airplay on local am radio:

There's a blast from the past.

More famous to me for his hand in the establishment of Mushroom Studios an entity which, while renowned, should still receive far more credit than it does.
