FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

I would venture a guess; because roughly 97% of Argentinians are white and less than 0.5% black.
Could that possibly have something to do with it? :|
If you have fair representation, that means roughly one in 200 players should be black.

The population of different Latin American countries vary immensly. Mexico is like 70% meztizo. Brazil is 48% white, 43% mixed and 8% black, and most of those labelled mixed would be considered black in the USA. In Peru and Bolivia it’s like 5% white 20-25% Amerindian and the rest mostly meztizo. Argentina is almost completely white, and so are Chile and Uruguay as well, 85-90%, albeit in Chile the rest are basically Amerindian whereas in Uruguay you have like 5% black people.
Whatever you do, always give 100 %!
Except when donating blood.

Yes, but it used to be 1/3 black, which is what the article delves into.

BA is about half Italian, I was there back in '78. They speak Spanish with an Italian accent! The food, the food is outstanding.

The River Plate countries are all a little different, Paraguay is almost completely Mestizo and they speak Guarani, an indigenous language. Very unusual and probably a result of the disastrous War Of The Triple Alliance where the male Criollo population was essentially wiped out and in the aftermath the Catholic Church had to look the other way as they introduced polygamy to rebuild the decimated population.

Good thing they didn't have women in the military back then eh. They would have emerged from that war with no population

Argentina had a very small population back then and most of the black male population was used up in various military campaigns like the Desert Campaign against the native people of the pampas. You still see light skinned blacks around Buenos Aires but they are disappearing fast.
