Movie Thread

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Yeah, it wasn't great, not your usual Bond.

(he's old and hopelessly lets-settle-down-together in love)

Although the special effects were absolutely superb!

I thought the new Bond was fun, kind of a throwback to older style with trick cars, watches, etc.

Yeah the throwback stuff was cool.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, hey it's a Bond!

I just meant it wasn't great in comparison to other Bonds... in retrospect.

Midway point among all Bond movies? A tad higher?

Although as I say, the special effects were among the best ever.

I've never come out of a Bond movie feeling I didn't get my money's worth though.

And this one was no exception.

Also wifey was happy with all the true love stuff.

True love stuff is great & all... but I don't like dat dere in my Bond films.

Reminded me of that George Lazenby one a bit, although, again, I enjoyed that one as well.

What were your thoughts on the end? Not your usually Bond movie fare.

The end?

Truthfully, with the way the storyline was unfolding... I kind of expected it.

Whatever, it's a Bond so no matter what I or anyone else says... you know you have to watch it. 8-)

Anyone else seen Dune yet?

Thought it was good, but ended a bit abruptly.
But as Zendaya said ”this is just the beginning”.

I liked it - good story, didn't drag, but it was obviously set up for sequel (trilogy?), which I wasn't expecting until it became way too obvious that nothing was going to be resolved.

I actually never saw the Lynch version. It got really bad press, and I never bothered to.
Most SciFi afficionados seem to prefer the Villeneuve attempt. This was the first of two parts and has an 8.2 rating at imdb. The Lynch movie from 1984 has 6.4.
