We're All Doomed!™ (the Conquest, War, Famine, and Death Thread)

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

How many plow trucks does the city of Vancouver own for that one day a year? Very few I would guess. Government can't be wasting money on shit like that.

People who skipped their COVID vaccine are at higher risk of traffic accidents, according to a new study

The American Journal of Medicine has found that the unvaccinated people were 72% more likely to be involved in a severe traffic crash—in which at least one person was transported to the hospital—than those who were vaccinated.

The excess risk of car crash posed by unvaccinated drivers “also imposes risks on other road users,” the authors wrote... the authors theorize that people who resist public health recommendations might also “neglect basic road safety guidelines.”

Why would they ignore the rules of the road? Distrust of the government, a belief in freedom, misconceptions of daily risks, “faith in natural protection,” “antipathy toward regulation,” ... and personal beliefs are potential reasons proposed by the authors.
Yup, that fits our Donny to a T... may he rest in peace.

I blame Punk Rock for taking him under its spell.

If only he had just stuck with The Beatles. :(

"The findings are significant enough that primary care doctors should consider counseling unvaccinated patients on traffic safety—and insurance companies might base changes to insurance policies on vaccination data, the authors suggest."

:?

"First responders may also consider taking precautions to protect themselves from COVID when responding to traffic crashes, the authors added, as it’s more likely that a driver is unvaccinated than vaccinated."

Doesn't Donny drive a Beemer? BMW drivers are far more likely to obliviously glide through congestion, caterwauling away into their ear buds about how all the boat people have really ruined the north shore...

Mëds, please inform your co-workers that it's safe to tend to accidents victims once again.

So what we can take from all this...

correlation is not the same as causation

those interpreting the original study clearly need to evolve their thought processes.

They didn’t suggest not taking the vaccine caused the accidents.

They suggested that the common denominator could be distrust in authorities and unwillingness to follow recommendations, perhaps including stop signs, speed limits or laws against drinking and driving.

Exactly - I am not going to do 30km in a school zone. I will do what I want, I won’t be controlled by the government. It’s against my rights. The queen of Canada said it was ok.

This part of the article seems the most ludicrous:

The findings are significant enough that primary care doctors should consider counseling unvaccinated patients on traffic safety

Lmao. So the city plows and scraped a whole inch of snow two weeks ago, throws out 1,000,000 pounds of salt on the roads smearing up every vehicle on the road. Where are these assholes today? I’ve got six inches of powder here. Saw one snow plow at 8 am
