Ahem. :drink:

Don't lump us in with the meatballs there Per!
Sorry. Should have remembered. Even when Canada sucks in the round robin, they usually manage to pick it up a notch once the elimination games begin. Not the first time this happens.
Nor quite likely the last... 8-)

Sucked in the round robin? :eh:

Canada went 6-1 outscoring their opponents 34-8, that's with their 4-0 loss to Finland.

Cool story tho.

Point taken, but 7-1 vs Hungary, 8-0 vs Belarus, 5-2 vs Germany and 4-0 vs France don't really mean squat. Those teams aren't contenders. They are only their to learn and to help spread the hockey gospel to new audiences.
The only two games in the roundrobin that meant anything were 5-1 vs the USA and 0-4 vs Finland. (Possibly the 5-0 vs Slovakia, but Slovakia has been slipping... )
The first game (vs the USA) seemed to herald great things to come, until of course the US also lost to Finland, Germany and Slovakia and I started to figure they must have really sent a crap team this year.
And then the 4-0 loss against Finland made me think your guys weren't going anywhere. Then they proved me wrong. They had definitely learnt from their mistakes next time they played the Finns. That game was flawless. And impressive, because they showed that Canada could adapt to their opponent. I mean, normally Canada just goes out and plays Canada's game, and usually that's all it takes. But after being blown away by the Finns in the roundrobin, the Canadian coaching staff changed their game plan for the next encounter with Finland, and smoked them 2-0. Perfectly executed defensive game that kept the Finns on the perimeter and without any good scoring opportunities.

Quick question, no googling:
Can you name a Hungarian hockey player?
Or a French hockey player not named Huet and not holding a Canadian passport?

If you could just go ahead and never doubt Canada again that'd be great!

Markström will be in the crease in Sweden's pre-tournament game vs Finland tomorrow.

It's on every party's best interest to manage Henrik's crease time. He still has the ability to dominate.

Goaltending is of the least talked about subjects leading up to Canada's Cup.
Lundqvist
Price
Rinne
Quick
Crawford

There's quite a bit of hardware behind the blue painted crease
