Henrik named Captain for Sweden, Daniel gets an A.

Oops! Posted this stuff in the wrong thread. :oops:
Let's bring it back here:

So you have the ability to listen in on our excuse for a sports radio show hosted by Pratt, eh?
J/K..
We'll see if "The King" is really injured or if this was the plan anyways..... ;)
Actually... Yes. They are available as an internet radio station, and I sometimes listen to the end of Canuck games while having breakfast. But this bit of news I found in a newspaper online.

Sweden faces Finland again in Gothenburg, where Henrik used to live while playing for Frölunda Indians, a team still captained by his twin brother, on Saturday. It's assumed he will start that game, and that team management thus wants to see Markström in the game tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if they start Enroth in the third pre-tournament game, just to make sure all three have seen some game action before the tournament starts.

Lundquist did fracture some ribs recently, but says it doesn't prevent him from playing. Just hairline fractures, so they should heal pretty fast, but I've had one of those, and it makes coughing and/or laughing quite painful. :|

Yeah, have had those too, coughing hurts, a lot, but you can tape up and play if they are just, as you say, hairline fractures.
Believe me when I say that badly bruised ribs are WORSE. The pain is horrid no matter what you do. They actually take longer to heal, a real nightmare...

OK... Power break half way through the second period, and when they return Enroth is in the crease.

Guess they decided to give Markström and Enroth half a game each, and Henrik gets two.
Yeah, makes sense.

0-0 so far. Jacob did good.
Ekman-Larsson scored a goal, assisted by Silfverberg, but it was called of for goalie interference.
Very questionable call. :evil:

Lol! :lol:
He looked good with the twins. They created lots of scoring chances.
I predict 40 goals for him this season. 8-)

Finland won 3-2 in ot.

I blame the loss on the decision to switch goalies mid game.
Markström was Sweden's best player for the first half of the game.
Then Enroth allowed a goal on the second shot he faced. Not his fault, Karlsson screwed up, but having a hot goalie in the crease rather than a guy that just came in from the bench could have made a difference.
Also, Enroth should have saved Finland's second goal, a shot from the side which slipped in by the near post.
There shouldn't be an opening there. :hmmm:

Anyway, after this game it should be clear that Markström is the backup and Enroth third string.
From now on we rely on Henrik Lunquist. Markström might get the odd game.

Finnish goals by Barkov, Granlund and Määttä.
Swedish goals by Eriksson and Söderberg.

Watching Erik Karlsson along with Daniel and Henrik Sedin do whatever they want on the ice in overtime in the 3-on-3 format is really fun. For much of OT, Finland was just watching. Goalie Pekka Rinne stood on his head and the Finns really didn’t get the puck out of their end until the final rush, when Maatta scored. Until then it was tic-tac-toe plays, and Swedes wheeling around like they were playing against a Peewee team. Overtime is going to be one of the best things about this tournament, no matter what team you’re watching. A side note: We ought to soak up watching the Sedins on the international stage, because who knows how many more chances we’ll get. The twins turn 36 during this tournament.

Yup. This is different than an allstar game. 8-)

The players actually take this seriously enough to try to get under each other skins even during the pre-tournament warm-up games! :lol:

All numbers, Weber looked the fool on that one......now the Oshie hit.....that was a little different.

Too bad Price is a half breed. He burned the wagons when his defenders circled and the wouldn't be an Indian giver and take back those juicy rebounds.

When do the Canucks play the Habs?

So, the second pretournament game between Sweden and Finland ended 6-3 in Sweden's favour.

The Vancouver line helped give Sweden a 2-0 lead and looked good throughout the game.
These are the grades handed out by Aftonbladet after the game:
30. Henrik Lundqvist +++

4. Niklas Hjalmarsson +++
6. Anton Strålman ++
14. Mattias Ekholm ++
23. Oliver Ekman Larsson ++++
65. Erik Karlsson ++++
77. Victor Hedman ++
47. Hampus Lindholm ++

9. Filip Forsberg ++
11. Mikael Backlund ++
18. Jakob Silfverberg ++
19. Nicklas Bäckström +++
21. Loui Eriksson ++++
22. Daniel Sedin ++++
33. Henrik Sedin ++++

34. Carl Söderberg ++
62. Carl Hagelin ++
72. Patric Hörnqvist +++
92. Gabriel Landeskog ++
I'm really happy about Loui finally playing for the Canucks!
I've been advocating this for a long time. They're just a perfect fit for each other! 8-)
