Obligatory Go Canada!

--

I don't whether to feel relief or pity seeing Dank being as ineffective at the Olympics as he is on the Canucks.

Dank looks like he's skating in quick sand in today's game versus Latvia. No shot, no speed, no nothing.

Did we need a new thread for this?

It will keep Per out of the other one. ;)

I think we all look at the Swedes as our 'away' team.

The whole team is a bit stumped. We had built our two top lines around Henrik Sedin and Henrik Zetterberg, and now they are both injured. Thus the lines are being improvised, and haven't really gelled yet.

Thankfully we still have one Henrik left, in the crease. He's doing his part, and then Erik Karlsson and Daniel Alfredsson make sure we score enough goals to win the games. 8-)

Btw, right at the end, it looked like Bäckström, Johansson and Daniel were beginning to start finding eachother, and it was a real nice play leading to Daniel's assist on Edler's goal. So I still have my hopes up!

Speaking of Edler, how has he looked? Any chance he brings some confidence back to North America with him?

Well, since he was suspended for the first two games, he's only played one so far. I thought he looked OK. Scored a goal even. Too early to tell though imho.

Since Sweden was the only team to win all three games in regulation, we're the top seed, which means that a) we get a bye to the quarter final, and b) in that quarter final we will face the winners of the Austria vs Slovenia matchup! :D

Slovenia beat Austria 4-0, so that means Sweden will play Kopitar & friends in the quarter.

I have a good feeling about this! 8-)

5-0 for Sweden, but more importantly, Alexander Steen, Loui Eriksson and Daniel Sedin all got their first goals of this tournament. Good to have them started in time for the important games! 8-)

Daniel now has four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in four games.

Come on the score doesn't indicate the first 2 very good periods by Slovenia.
It could had been something like Canada experienced...

As it stands right now, Sweden will win a medal. ;)

After a sketchy start, the Sedin - Bäckström - Loui Eriksson line has gradually improved, and today against Finland they were our best line! 8-)

Having Lundqvist in the crease feels good. He's calm, collected and delivers.
Here's hoping he delivers gold, come Sunday!
