GDT: Canucks host hawks - 7pm Jan 24 SNP

Post by Cornuck »

It's a brand new (lunar) year in Canuckland - how will the team respond to the changes?

On the one hand, the coaching situation has stabilized until the end of the season, but on the other - the players are still all trade bait (except EP40).

Are we going to see a more defensive minded team (lower scoring) right away? Will we be able to start preserving leads? Will we keep working on a prime draft spot?

I think we'll be seeing some butt-ugly hockey for a while, as the players adapt and the 4 lines get equal ice time (which is what the ticket buyers were hoping for, right?)

The last month or so has been some pretty bad hockey combined with too much off-ice drama. Win or lose, let's hope the games are least watchable.

The irony is that if they make everyone available except Pettersson and Hughes then they are rebuilding whether they want to call it a re-tool or not.

Hmmm... A "retool" or "rebuild" debate...

The Hughes on the right side experiment looks to be back on the table. He didn't look super comfortable in pre-season, but not a lot of opportunity was given.

Sure does change the look of our defense though.

But it fits with the tank plan, and that is all that matters at this point.

It has been ordained by the mouth that speaks too much.

15 minutes of ice time including any special teams play is the forward max. Expect Burroughs, Stillman, Dermott to be logging 18 minutes each.

Would be kind of neat if we lost tonight - and a "Bruce there it is!" chant goes up.

Tank it for Bruce!

A "Bruce there it is!" after every opposition goal?

That would be hilarious!
