Several reasons, as per Meg the lack of shot blocking but you also have (in no particular order):Per wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 1:07 am OK, this is weird.
Bo's two goals in this game have him tied with Ovechkin for third in the league in goal scoring.
He is on track for a 62-goal season, which would be a franchise record, blowing Bure out of the water.
Meanwhile, Elias Pettersson is on track for a 100 point season.
A rare commodity among Canuck players throughout history.
And yet the team is now 25th in a 32 team league.
What the #µ<& are the rest of the players doing?
Sure, they are only 7 points out of a wild card spot with two games in hand, and there are 45 games remaining, so there is still a reasonable chance to make the playoffs, but still.
1 - poor in game pass decisions
2 - lack of hussle
3 - no assholes
4 - no system
5 - too many floaters
6 - player skill level
7 - no leadership
8 - poor goaltending
9 - they just don't want it
10 - the team is not a team, there is some serious issues in the locker room
11 - PK

They've played less than half the games...
7 points with two games in hand - win one, lose one, that's roughly five points behind, and another 43 games to play.
Look, I'm not saying they're a contender. They're clearly not.
I'm just saying there's a reasonable chance to make the playoffs if they start getting their shit together.
Whatever you do, always give 100 %!

They need to play at least 15 games over .500. There schedule is hell this month. It’s not happening. Even if Calgary or Edmonton only ends up at 93 points, we know Colorado is getting back their injured players.

All of those things except 8. Most goaltenders would look bad behind this squad.2Fingers wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 7:51 amSeveral reasons, as per Meg the lack of shot blocking but you also have (in no particular order):Per wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 1:07 am OK, this is weird.

Statistically you are wrong.
American Thanksgiving is almost 8 weeks in our rear view mirror and they still haven’t climbed into a W/C spot.

The thing that stood out for me was there was a couple of goals that Martin didn't even move on. He was set, in position, then the shot was in the net. The only movement was him looking behind him after the fact.
Martin has the tools to be a decent backup, but he is wearing out his welcome as a starter. I think I read that Demko is possibly back on this upcoming road trip - but he'll need a few games, since he was shaky when he left.
Goaltending isn't going to bail us out for a while.
