GDT: Canucks host Ducks - Nov 9 - 7 PM - SNP

Post by donlever »

Fuck the Ducks - and not only from behind a la Carl and Paris Hilton.

Good morning Travis - please make every effort to use your brain when making coaching decisions.

Oh, by the way, Elias, this is an idea as to what we expect from you...

Ride the hot hand and all...totally get it.

Still of interest that Halak is not getting a sniff.

With the Avs and Knights as our next two roadies it would seem clear he won't be getting those games either.

EDIT....grammar....for Per.

Its not just Green on the goalie decisions. There will be a couple factors at play with Halak.

First, Demko is outplaying him and has had plenty of rest during the homestand. Halak is barely better than Holtby was last year, and not the most reliable with what we saw in his game and preseason. Ride the hot hand. With No back to backs, Greener is picking the guy to give the team the best chance to win without burning him out. this leads to second..

Second, Schedule. No back to backs, not on the road.. Demko is fine, rested and rolling hot. If we were travelling and the sleep time issues it causes, fatigue could/might be a factor. at home, with plenty of days off between games, its not a factor.

Third, Halaks contract. stupid clause for games played, but if we can avoid getting to the limit, and if Mikey is playing well and can fill the spot, either bench him or trade him to save the 1.5 million cap if possible.

Green is making the right call for all the right reasons on this one.

Canucks will have to use both Goalies on the road this weekend with a 7pm start Sat., and a 5pm start Sun. Interesting in that the Sun. game is the Ducks again.

Seems Halak starts after all. Was the first goalie off the ice this morning's warm-up.

Honestly, Halak hasn't been that bad. He's given up 2 goals per and his save percentage is almost identical to Demko's.

You could have said he should have played better in Detroit, but the entire team was disappointing in that game.

His puck handling is atrocious and gets him into trouble but overall, I think he's been solid. Problem was, the team in front of him had serious breakdowns. Dude deserves a good effort from his teammates.
