Nothung to complain about with that game. Nice comeback for the loser point, fun OT, and almost pulled off the win.

Considering the turnover this team is dealing, game 1 went better than expected.

Very good even strength play. Didn't see the old Green fire drill system.

Oilers count on winning by playing 2 guys half the game, scoring on the powerplay and in OT and shootouts.
Amazing how invisible McD and Drai were for so much of the game, yet McD still comes away with 2 points lol

I'm pretty indifferent actually.

I only watched the 3rd period (working) but I saw nothing that made me think this team was going to have any more success offensively than they did last year other than that OEL is pretty good at finding seams for his wrist shot. The fact that he is rumoured to also possess a decent bomb as well gives one hope that PK'ers will have to respect him from all ranges.

They just didn't look all that "inspired". The PP had the same predictable puck movement.

Actually Mëds sportsnet shows basic highlights of majority of the Canuck games and not all the stuff Mick shows. Yes he loves his post count but if I can get my link from Mick and not have to watch 2 commercials then I’m good with that.

Really makes you wonder how much faster - if at all - Chiasson was in preseason over Gadjovich.
MacEwan, Gadjovich gone on waivers for PP specialist Chiasson and someone named Dowling, Juolevi traded for journeymen trash and Lind gone in expansion draft. Awesome asset management
… what sort of reverse pagentry is this?!?

I thought Dowling was quite adequate on the halfboards on the 2nd PP unit. Calm, composed and has better hands than Chiasson. As far as placeholders go, Dowling is more reliable than Petan for sure.

Chiasson reminds me of Steve Bernier, but with a league minimum contract. No wheels, no hands, no good.

Try finding them in 2 /4 / 8 yrs. from now. Archiving is what it's all about.

Post Game Oliver Ekman Larsson--4:13 min.
"I thought we played pretty good. It's tough the first game. A lot of motions, and you want to do a little bit too much our there,
but overall we had a good game."🗣 Ekman-Larsson on his first game with Myers
Post game Quinn Hughes--3:05 min.
"He's so fast and dangerous. He's going to get his opportunities and chances no matter what. You just try to limit those."
🗣 Hughes on being matched up against McDavid
Post Game Travis Green--4:26 min
"Our guys stuck with it. We talked about it after the 2nd. This is when you got to believe in your game, believe in what you're trying to do, believe in the process."🗣 Coach Green
--Green on the Myers hit: "It's a good hit and a hockey play. Duncan was fine. Give their guy credit, he comes in to defend the hit and that's part of the game."

I liked our D tonight I must admit. It was a pleasure watching them get the puck out without those 1 minute fire drills. Everyone on D played well enough to play next game.

F/O need work. We will miss Beagle and Sutter there but hopefully the Fin and Dickinson can bring up their average.

A lot of good cycles and board play in the O zone but no finish. We miss Brock for sure so let us hope he is good to go sooner rather than later. Smith was good or did we make him look good?

Our PP is so predictable. As of right now Prefer OEL getting more PP time and let Hughes work back into it. It is nice to see a number 23 getting the shots through. That was one of my biggest gripes about Edler. I dont think a Dman hit more shin pads than he did (does).

I didn't mind Dowling's game but not on the PP, please. Highmore was good on the PK and showed some hustle. Chase-is-on does not impress me and its hard not to see what Gad or big Z could have done to replace what he is bringing. We saved like what $100,000 in cap by signing him and waiving big Z.

I agree when Motte and Boeser are back the team will look a lot better and more balanced. I am getting tired of Miller's bonehead plays but I can still tolerate them when he is producing or hitting like a madman. I can certainly see trading him or letting him walk at some point.

Damn I thought we were going to take that in OT. We played a good OT and deserved it there but the rest of the game was hard to watch, until the last 10 minutes. We seemed to step up the urgency and good on them for getting a point.

I do think I see signs of improvement though in the D coverage and that will go a long way to helping us win some points. No more Edmonton announcers!!!!

What makes Jason King a PP specialist?

His brieft stint with the Sedins back then?

Yeah Petey definitely stunk on that one
Petey was stuck in a 2 on 1 situation when Chiasson got suckered out of position chiassing Conner McWhiner when Miller was already checking CM. McWhiner made the pass to Nurse who had the whole left side of the offensive zone to move in on Demko. Nurse became the immediate threat which means EP has to go to where Nurse is to stop him from walking in clean on Demko. In doing so EP forces Nurse to shoot, rebound goes to Poolparty. Chiasson is responsible for the breakdown in defensive zone coverage.

Yeah, I agree. It's going to take time for this team to gell. A lot of criticism of Pettersen in this threat yet I thought he was dangerous on the attack yet still has some rust since this is only his third games since last March.
