Pettersson;
“Rusty first game. I wasn’t happy with a lot of my game, but that’s what pre-season is for. There’s some work to do. It’s always nice to score, but I’m not happy with my game.” - Pettersson

Asked Brandon Sutter if he considered copying Elias Pettersson's one-handed penalty shot deke.

Sutter: "I was actually going to look at the bench and give him a wink. But that (move) has never crossed my mind and it never will."

Good to see Petey score and nice that Sutter potted two. We need secondary scoring, and if we can get that from Sutter, all the better!

.One of the more encouraging aspects of this mildly sloppy affair was the play of Demko. His positioning was good as was
his movement. This in itself is very important if this team is taking a big step up this year.
Hughes is amazing but he will give us plenty of scary moments as he did in this game. Amazing acceleration from a near standstill.
If Sutter can stay healthy and energetic for an entire season like he was tonight, that's a bonus and Gawd knows he owes it.
In regards to center, that number four slot will be a battle. Gaudette looked considerably better than the night before but still 50/50
whether he starts the real year here.
Pettersson isn't as rusty as he thinks he is but I would like him to be very wary of predatory activity directed his way. This was an ugly
Oiler squad but he is obviously a player that will get extra attention around the league.
Ferland seems to be a drive to the net guy and who knows if that would be more valuable on the Horvat line or the Pettersson Boesser line.
I think Green might want to take a look at switching Ferland and Miller back and forth a couple of times when Boesser is back.
Virtanen didn't play a big role like he did in Calgary. Guess the back to back was for conditioning or along those lines.
Holy crap, Goldobin was defensively steller, even phenomenal. He dove once to break up a play. 8-) ;)
He may well stick.

If Sutter stays healthy, he could fetch us a decent at the TDL. Then it will be just a reasonably priced 1 year contract for a 30 year old two way centre, that is if he can stay healthy. Centre depth for a playoff run iscakwsys a hot commodity, that and D. I’d park Tanev in this category as well, especially if Juolevi is progressing. Miller can take up the Sutter slack if Gaudette isn’t panning out

They aren’t trading those guys if they are in a legit playoff race. Especially Tanev who’s their second best D man.

Shaddup, you don’t know what shit may happen come the TDL. The book is far from done, Bookwriter.

Next round of cuts?

Boucher
Arseneau
Graovac
Chatfield
Gadjovich

Lind, Rafferty, Teves, and Brisebios deserve longer looks. Not minding Ferraro. Sautner is in that Biega category along with Schaller

Ya Demko was outstanding. I was at the same as well, and I was quite surprised at how good of a skater Myers is.

I liked Chatfield's game. He missed a lot of last year, hopefully with a little health luck he can climb the depth chart.

I also thought Sutter/Pearson started to get some chemistry. Might be a nice 3rd line that can score.

Overall impression....Utica is doing to have a fun team to watch next year!

I have a hard time believing people are impressed with Chatfield. Ok, there is a slim chance that next year he may be tradable or a deep deep deep depth call up.

Load up the Utica shuttle, every team has people to ship out on waivers this time of year. Clear out time.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

As a canucks fan that game was pretty rough to watch. The baby coilers took it to the canucks all game and had their breakouts scouted right to the 3rd pass.

Whoever isnt already on the team didnt win a spot chasing coilers all night
If you need air...call it in
