I knew Micky would be sooo excited he’d get this GDT up early! Well done sir!

I’m excited to see Hughes. I have to remind myself he’s a kid and just be excited for him. Gotta think so much is riding on this for Benning. I don’t mean tonight, I mean the outcome of Hughes over the next season.

I have full confidence that if someone takes a run at Hughes Schenn will step up in a big way.

Nice to get Hutton back. Nice to see what Spooner has until the end of the season.

There will be bums in them seats tonight!

"Quinn is highly regarded around here. He's a high pick and a great amount of success in college -- I've seen him play in the World Championships and he was great at that level. I'm excited for the chance to play with him." - Schenn on Hughes

"Stecher has been great, he's not the biggest guy and there's different ways of defending, but one thing is he competes so hard. He moves the puck real well and can play in all situations. Very impressed with how he brings it each night. He's only going to get better." - Schenn on Stecher

"Talked to Quinn today and told him to play his game. Want him to be aggressive when he can, want him to get up the ice, make good passes to skate the puck when he can and to enjoy himself. We'll get through game one, show some video and move on from there. Think you can expect to see Quinn on PP at some point. That's the kind of player he is. His passing would help, getting his shot through. I don't want to put too many expectations on him, he can run a PP, not expecting him to be Paul Coffey tonight." - Green on Hughes

"Always had in the back of my mind that Baertschi might not play every game. He's been out and missed a lot of hockey this year -- it's almost like a player coming into training camp. It's not training camp now, had a good talk with him today. Played two in three and he's out tonight." - Green on Baertschi

From Carol Schram:

Hughes skated with Luke Schenn at practice on Wednesday. The pair are 10 years apart in age but first met more than a decade ago, when Schenn was an 18-year-old rookie with the Toronto Maple leaves and Quinn's father Jim was doing player-development work with the team.

Now that’s a cute story don’t you think?
