Carlyee wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 5:21 am Luke Schenn must be terrible. I like Macewen better than Schaller. I think I'm ok with Spooner taking over from Granlund/Goldobin next year.
5 points and -11 in 42 games (Spooner) vs.
25 points and -6 in 52 (Goldie) and
19 points and -6 in 59 (Granlund)

I am not ok with Spoons replacing either unless he improves significantly over the remainder of the season.
I would suggest perhaps you expand your sample size. Spooner is -20 in his career. Granlund is -41 in only slightly fewer games. Goldobin is already -19 in a third as many games as Spooner. The only reason Goldobin has any points is EP40. Taking a myopic view based on this shitty season for western teams is probably not appropriate. But hey you do you.
The statement that EP40 is the only reason Golobin has "any points" is not true. 11 of his points occur without EP40 in the scoring log - several with Bo and a couple with two other forwards factoring in not named EP40. 11 points is still more than Spooner has this season.

42 games is hardly myopic. It identifies the current trend-line of the players. Spooner is the oldest of the players referenced at 27 with a downward trend-line.

As for taking a larger sample size into consideration, you will note that for your ease of reference I have made bold my qualifier indicating that if Spooner's play "improves significantly over the remainder of the season" I would be open to changing my opinion (thereby taking a larger sample size into consideration). Perhaps you would have preferred that I included "or reverts to some of his better play in previous years"?

It may be interesting for some to note that in Spooner's best season in 2015-2016 (49 pts) Loui factored in on 14 of those points. Perhaps Greener should try re-uniting these two to try to re-kindle some of their quality play from years gone by?

Brad Richardson has 11 goals. His cap hit is 1.25 million
And is truculent like Ryan Clowe

But his last name isn’t Sutter. He makes peanuts. And unlike Brandon his ankles don’t go up to his waist and his wrists do t go up to this shoulders.

Kind of like how Jake (12 goals 10 assists) is making $1.25 million vs your preferred draft choice - 10 million William and his 3 goals in 32 games?
