The trade they have to make is Sutter with Gaudette coming. No way you trade any of Edler or Tanev.... you pretty much can’t. Resign Edler to the hometown discount, trade Sutter.

Yup. I mentioned moving Sutter. Teams like Pittsburgh are dying to shore up their 3rd line center spot for the playoffs. They want to move on from Brassard.

Yep. If we make the playoffs the placeholders gotta go. No point Sutter getting playoff experience at Gaudette's expense.

What would you say to shifting Sutter to Gaudette's wing, mentoring him?

For another year at least?

The Pens loved Sutter as their #3 centre, but as contenders they had to manage the cap as efficiently as possible

... so they had to let him go what with him becoming a UFA and his salary going up.

They still have to manage the cap efficiently of course... but we don't for another 2.5 seasons.

If we retained half of Sutter's salary his trade value would be HUGE to a contender.

No problem with that. Sutter may not waive at this TDL (full NTC ends this season) but next season his contract becomes modified to having provide 15 teams he would waive his NTC for. He will be more attractive to potential trade partners next year’s TDL with only 1 year left on contract

The difference in the third was the defensive pairings. Hutton and Stecher were outplayed in the first and second periods. Green finally adjusted with Edler and Tanev babysitting Stecher and Hutton.

He still kept the correct 4 d men playing on the top two pairs. Great pinch by Stecher in the winning goal

You are funny. The goal was the hard work of Roussel and his crosscheck on Neilson. Virtanen had to back Stecher up and fired the puck on net. If you give credit to Stecher for doing nothing, you should also give credit to Gudbranson on the first goal. He punched and Boeser fired the puck for Pettersson to tip.

Seriously, even you admitted that Gudbranson is at least 25% better than Stecher. Why do you hate Gudbranson so much? Is it because his look, his height, or his money?
