Gotta say the vets are consummate pro's and earning their cheques, Sutter, Roussel, Schaller types, just solid NHLer's, smart, heady, hard workers.

The young vets flashing their skills from time to time, like Baertschi, Granlund, Virtanen, Horvat and of course Boeser the sniper, he's a pure natural shooter, GOLDY is getting the analytics crowd on his side.

Nikolay Goldobin may not have had any shots tonight, but he continued to distribute the puck w/ 3 shot assists which tied him for the team lead w/ 27 & 51. Goldy also contributed defensively in the neutral zone in what may have been his most complete game this year.

Tanev the defensive machine and even Guddy played a real solid game sans that elite pass by phil the thrill kessel.
Hutton looks way more confident.

A few comments;

Much like Doc and I here, the veterans on the Canucks have provided a steadying keel to the kid's pond hockey. Last night was seniors night in Pittsburg. The Pens were out worked and out hustled with no room to move freely. Sutter, Granlund, Erickson, Shaller, Roussel, Tanev and Edler earned their jello.

Yes Edler had a couple of limp wristed give aways, but he was also a beast as usual. He, Tanev and Garrison stood out. Hell, even smiley face had a couple of Hulk moments.

Gawd sat for trying to be the sole creator and became a lost soul.

A well played road game instead of road hockey. The teachers stood tall, hopefully the students took notice.

Ya I don’t know why Gaudette was benched either. I guess the Green tough love for kids continues. I think perhaps Gaudette can play bigger and is timid or too respectful of the other players, if that makes sense. He just needs to find his NHL game.

Good to see Brock back. I still would have benched his ass for a game after the second Calgary game. But his confidence seems back. Did he look faster tonight or the Pens D that slow?

Lets just hope that Green was giving Gaudette the Petersson treatment (aka the "rookie" treatment) - low minutes to get used to the pace and to prove that you can be trusted when the game is on the line.

About 20 in each of the last three years. I watched Gaudette play and Boeser play two years ago near the ends of those seasons. So far I’m 5/6 this season
