Markstrom played a good game too.

Our PK, outstanding.

Our D played good, few bad shifts.

Three lines played good. Bo played well but the other two not so. Here’s the thing with Boeser, IMO, he showed up to camp last year sluggish and uninterested. Green upset at his lack of conditioning. This year he gets a pass for his lack of conditioning. But, he’d better be careful to not make this a habit. He’s been an effortless scorer everywhere he’s played but this is the NHL. He can’t afford to use the first ten games as training camp. Just saying.

I’ll take full credit for the win because I played Fortnite for them and took a devastating loss.
Penalty kill was great, and won the game for them.
No bitchin’ about Beagle tonight.

Fun game. Keep it up lads.

No sedins, gagner or vanek no problem, the youth have been set free!

Players playing with some edge out there.

Pettersson getting some recognition from the entire NHL - even Jeremy Roenick.

Will mean more if they do it on the road in Calgary.

Yeah, very good season opener. Some of the penalties called against us was BS, but nice to see our PK step up big time. I think there's no way we kill penalties like that last year, but today we just cleared the puck all nite. Last year, a team like Calgary would have scored a couple of goals on the PP and it would have deflated us to lose the game.

Nice to see Beagle Hound come as advertised, a beast on the dot and great on the PK. The duo of Beagle-Granlund and Sutter-Motte were great on the PK all nite. It was fun to watch these guys kill penalties and just stifle the Flame's O. U can see why Travis kept a guy like Motte over Samwise, Motte being a guy who knows his role, can check all nite and has good wheels (even though Samwise is more talented).

Jake seemed to be kind of going thru the motions for the first 2 periods, but after he came out of the box, he just turned on the jets, blew past Giordano and scored a beaut. Not sure if it was feeling bad for taking the penalty, smelling blood or being fresh on the ice, maybe all were factors. Then he threw a nice hit shortly after.

Nice to see Guddy answer the bell and win a fight, but I thought his timing was really bad as Petterson and the Golden-one was working the puck down there and looked like they could have had a nice scoring chance. Neal also stripped Guddy of the puck close the end there, which didn't look good. I do like Guddy, but glad it didn't cost us this nite.

The BoHo line was probably the weakest tonite. We lost quite a bit of scoring in the Sedins, Vanek and Samwise, but this year it seems we got quite a bit younger, faster and defensively stronger. We'll miss the Sedins, but in a different way, this team has the potential to be more fun to watch and be more competitive. We're quite strong down the middle with BoHo, Sutter and Beags. Greener has his team now and he can deploy his players in matchups to his liking all nite now. Hopefully, Petterson will become that top notch skilled centre that we need to round off our centre ice position. Right now, with the other 3 guys there, Greener can shelter Petterson and mainly use him more in offensive starts (until Petterson can get stronger in the circle and physically). I think this a team that even Willie D would like, a team he could roll 4 lines with.

Good start. Lots of positives.
Listening in the car to the lady after the game on 650am said she interviewed Gudbranson and he said he wanted to send a message but very much regrets that it was a rookie he hit. He did not know. Enjoyed the fight though.

Guess Markstrom can't do another 81 like that eh? Too bad.

9 straight 1st game losses for Calgary. :P

Granlund shoulda passed to Beagle ;)

Tanev plays like it's a game 7 in a playoff. Cool but not cool.

When he wants to, Jake can fly.

Pleasantly surprised with Leipsic.

Miss Shorthouse and Garrett even if my old friend john-gee says things he shouldn't once in a while, like the last pre-season game.

Apparently Gudbranson went up to Dube between periods and apologized. Said he didn't mean to hit him high and only hit him because he anticipated he was going to touch the puck. Told him he was glad he was ok.

Kinda like that he did that. He's a class guy. But also glad he hit him and played physical all night. That's the Gudbranson we need all season.

Pettersson seems to pass like a Sedin and shoot like Naslund. That’s a nice package.
