I don't think any of our FA signings last Summer are all that bad. There is good utility in them all.

Del Zotto is an adventure. He does a lot of little things right and can eat important minutes. But boy he can offer up some pizzas with regularity some nights. Hutton and Edler get crucified for doing the same mind fart things. Luckily it's only a two year deal and I think he is easily moveable should it come to that. The return won't be much but...

Vanek can have these moments of great goals, terrific passing and add in the occasional nifty dangle. He is producing points. But there is too much uninspired play from him where he fails to put in effort at puck retrieval, too many stupid no look passes to nowhere and one too many turn over. His veteran status earns him the auto trust with Green. Younger guys get benched for less. But he has that proven track record of big goals. He is all but useless in the defensive side of his game. But it's only a one year deal and he is tradeable should it come to that.

Gagne is as expected. He is a lot more defensively aware than Vanek which makes his +/- a little puzzling. He has speed and is a good passer. He was brought in to specifically enhance our PP. To some extent he has but certainly not in the impactful way it was hoped. He will be harder to move with his three year deal but keep in mind when he was brought in it was as a placeholder specifically. Buying time for Dahlen and Pettersson.

Burmistrov is the mystery to me. I didn't think he played all that badly but then again I didn't think he outplayed Rodin really. Now that he is the outside man every mistake is magnified when he plays. I think they give Goldobin a couple of more games so Burmistrov will probably sit. Gaunce has out performed him. Hard to see a future for him. But it was a nothing signing and he could be waived. If we lose him we lose him. Coach has no confidence in him so eh.

MDZ is trash defensively.
Vanek is beneficial all around, I suspect he helps LE.
Gagne is like Samwise Gamgee he'll be at his best come post playoffs.
Burmi is the biggest disappointment.

Yar, sure, Ehlers and Willie Nylander are ahead of JV right now, but who knows in a couple years. My old buddy Bert said he's the perfect example that u gotta be patient with young players as the Isle gave up on him too soon. Coach Green said that it may take until Jake is 23-24 before he hits his full stride in the NHL, so I'm glad that it sounds like the organization will be patient with him.

I noticed that MDZ's minutes have dropped substantially with Edler and Tanev back, which is probably a good thing. Don't noticed MDZ on the wrong end of the highlights as much.

Gagner had a slow start, but is coming around a bit. 10 pts in 27 gp is probably about right for the amount of minutes he plays.

Not much was expected for Burmastov @ 1 yr deal of basically league minimum. With his NHL experience, he's a good guy to have around as the 13th forward in case of injuries. He can probably show more if given a chance to use his skill set, but lots of guys ahead of him right now.
