GDT 28/9/17 Flames @ Canucks 7:00pm Sportsnet

Post by Zemtac »

Van's Lineup Tonight:

Baertschi-Granlund-Boeser
Virtanen-Gagner-Burmistrov
Upshall-Sutter-Dorsett
Archibald-Chaput-Megna

Del Zotto-Stecher
Pedan-Tanev
Wiercoch-Biega

Nilsson
Bachman

Calgary's Lineup:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Bennett - Brouwer
Stajan - Jankowski - Lazar
Hamilton/Hathaway

Giordano - Hamilton
Brodie - Hamonic
Kulak - Stone
Bartkowski

Smith
Lack

We should be in tough tonight, but I'll be interesting to watch the first line and see who else steps up?

Does Virtanen make his case? I look forward to seeing what the second line does against a full Calgary lineup as that is going to be a good indication of what our secondary scoring maybe throughout the season? Although we are missing significant pieces up front and on the "D"?

Going to try and watch a good chunk of this game. I'm interested to see if Darren Archibald can continue to put his best foot forward and maybe make this team. From all reports he was Uticas best player last year. Plays a heavy game and hits like a truck.

I look forward to seeing how Archibald plays as well? He's a bigger tougher version of Dorsett. However, I've thought Dorsett has looked good/fair from an energy standpoint so far this preseason. Burmistrov is another player that I'm watching tonight, he looked good in the last game he played, I thought one of the best players on the Canucks.

I think it is to keep pressure on the last cuts as opposed to them telegraphing the lineup, we still have options. Don't get me wrong Chaput and Megna will both be in Utica to start the season in my opinion, you just don't need the players knowing that, keep them fighting hard!!! Good Goal by Virtanen!!!

Virtanen looks good.

Sutter does not look ready to start a season.

Bearchee hurt, another spot for a youngster to start the season?

Jake does look good. Still think it's the prudent move to start him in Utica though. Archibald can play on an NHL 4th line. Weirdcrotch is the worst of the bubble d men tonight while Biega is the best.

Sam Bennett - Superstar

Send Virtanen down, arent you the one who cried about signing free agents and not allowing the kids their opportunity to stick with the big club?

Or does having virtanen on the roster fuck with your Benning crusade?

Yeah I have no problem playing the waiver card with Jake (Boeser, OTOH, has earned his spot). Biega looking like he wants to stay as well.

The size up front is a factor, I agree. But the injury bug appears to be starting early (Horvat, Bart).

NIlsson the classic big-bodied goalie. Stops pucks, but looks ugly/uncoordinated doing it.

Boom! I hope our prospects develop quickly enough that both of these plugs are no longer even on our depth chart.

Jake almost gets his second of the night!

I agree Wiercoch is gone!!!
Boeser looks ready to get 9 games at least, if he can continue to play at this level, he is a player!
Virtanen, looks good again tonight, he's ready to start driving the play.
Rodin looks good again, I think he should be on the starting lineup, he is just to skilled.
Biega is playing his ass off as he always does.
Pedan doesn't look to bad, he may get a few games?
Burmistrov is smart and shifty, not bad defensively
Gagner looks invisible?
Baerts was great as always before injured
Tanev is our best player by far!!! He is so smart and strong on the puck!!!

Why only 9 games? You know he can go up and down from the AHL for the cost of airfare, right?

No you dumb fuck. The guy has been a scorer his whole career. That's the main reason he was drafted so high - to score. He has a total of 15 goals in his two pro seasons combined. He needs to get his scoring confidence back and if/when he lights it up for more than a few weeks in Utica, then bring him up. He still does a bit too much gliding around where he looks like a deer in headlights. M

Maybe watch the games before you run your mouth full of yellow snags.
