But as soon as I starting believing this could be a possible go-to again, Ryan Miller was pulled, in came the extra attacker.

It was not Alex Burrows. It was Chaput. And the city lost its mind.

Given how many big goals Sutter has had and how the coach insists on keeping him on the power play, I would have guessed Sutter here with the twins.

I could have also seen Horvat. Mostly because he leads the team in, duh, goals and they needed two.

Turns out, neither was the option for Willie.

In typical Wille fashion, he seemed to be looking for two evenly split units to play with the goalie pulled, rather than loading up on one to try and get something on the board.

It actually seems like he was trying to roll two lines.

So he had Sedins-Eriksson-Chaput-Larsen-Tryamkin as one group.

On the other, he had Sutter-Horvat-Baertschi-Granlund-Edler-Stecher.

I don’t get any of it. Stecher and Edler have all the experience playing with the twins, and have their trust, why wouldn’t they be on the ice with the Sedins?

And if you are going to go this way, how can it be Chaput over Burrows?

Chaput has three goals. In his career.
I'll just say, Yeah :bang:

Seriously though, try, try and try, just can't come up with good enough excuses for a performance like this, heading into the break. Apathetic display, why?

Canucks are three points out of 28th. They too are a bottom of the barrel team.

The flip side to this is that one hot streak could mean the playoffs, one losing streak (coupled with the lottery) could mean a top draft pick.

One thing is for sure, if the Canucks make the playoffs Willie should get the Jack Adams.

The goal apparently has been from day 1 to be the 14th worst team in the NHL. Then you get to enjoy being the best team to miss the show...all the while convincing yourself that catchy phrases like "we pride ourselves in promoting a winning culture" and "we dont want to be edmonton(or is it avalanche now that the coil hit a series of homers?)" compensate for missing the opportunity to draft for help down the road.
Sure you can always hope your longshots pan out but we all deep down know thats a hail mary compared to having a top prospect or 3 to cheer for (see Tuna in the other thread for supporting evidence)
40+ years of this folks...anyone ready for a change?

Team must have been a little off due to too much shopping in those pricy Glendale strip malls.

I am betting on a "just miss the playoffs" finish maybe pick between 10th and 15th :( Aquaman and Linden want to keep the seats full more than they want a top 5 pick.. Money talks..
