Hockey Widow wrote:Benning was asked during the intermission to qualify his comments about not asking players with NTC to waive. He said, and I paraphrase, that the vets left on the team with NTC are the players they want to mentor the young guys, play the right way and are integral to our continued development. Said he does not plan to move them out, wants them here the full year for the kids to lean on and learn from. Used Edler as an example of mentoring Stetcher and Burrows mentoring the young wingers. Feels they are more valuable to the future then any assets they night bring back, at this point. Of course some of those guys have modified NTC so he could be using spin here.

Bottom line, he seems to be saying he won't be cleaning house at the TDD, unlike last year when he let it be known that if we were out of the playoffs they may try to move some UFAs. In fact he didn't rule out that some of those UFAs?? Burrows and Miller are the only two right? Could be signed in free agency.

So it sure seems like what we see is what we get.
It makes complete sense to me. Ship out all the vets for draft picks means next year it's party at the kiddie pool.

I've requested a sun dial for Christmas so I can accurately time Daniel's PP point shots.

I wonder how long it will take members of this board to realize the "black hole" is 2 Sedins..

Our top two players points-wise are a "black hole". Wow!

I'll tell you what a black hole is. This team without the Sedins! These guys are still carrying the load.

And that's exactly why it's time to move away from them.
We are stuck here until they are not carrying the load.
They can't carry the load.
The organization can't think so.
Management can't think so.
The fans can't think so.
The young guys can't think so.
They can't think so.
Other teams can't think so.
And for God's sake, we here, shouldn't think so.

So jettison the Sedins?! Then no-one will be carrying the load. This team will suck massively. We'll be developing a losing culture for our future core. Is that what you want?

So you're saying they should be getting 2nd line minutes? 3rd line?

The whole twinsition plan is to move away from them - but that's not going happen until we have pieces in place to fill their spots.

I'm really not sure what you're getting at.

1 goal 2 assists with a great NTC contract courteous of Mike Gillis

Anybody notice Sutter deke out Garrison? Puck through the legs skated around him. What a terrible D man he is, slow and soft with a shitty shot

Not trolling you Mick, but you say that we should "move away from the Sedins". What do you mean by that exactly?

Doesn't matter if all the pieces are not in place, (they won't be for a while).
The ice time has to be cut back, it's still 82 games, last I checked.
WD has to put what pieces we do have in a position to play bigger minutes and some 1st unit PP time, hence drawing other teams best checkers away from the twins, actually opening the door for them to have success with lesser minutes.
This has all been talked about before.....
