Preseason GDT 9/21 Sharks at Canucks - 7:30 -
The top two lines tonight look like they could make a pretty decent 2/3 in the regular season. Nice to see the coaching staff putting them out there together now to try and build some chemistry.
Anyone know if this game is on TV?
Lineup:
Baertschi - Sutter - Vrbata
Higgins - Horvat - Hansen
Gaunce - Cracknell - Grenier
??? - Jones - Jensen
Edler - Tanev
Bartowski - Sbisa
Hutton - Biega
Markstrom
Bachman

Re: Preseason GDT - Sharks at Canucks
I'm not ready for this - I feel I need to express my feelings more about Brandon Sutter's contract before actual hockey begins again.
The game will be live on Sportsnet, per the Canucks website.

It should be interesting to see the Canucks ice a heavy bottom-six - looks like Kurtz will be the only bottom-six under 6'2"/200 lbs.

I'm ready for it. Hope the broadcast is in HD.
Looking forward to seeing if there is chemistry in the Sutter line.
Looking forward to seeing how Markstrom looks tonight. Great for Hutton to start, he has looked pretty good so far. Will the 3H line look like a winner, or is it just an audition for Higgins?
Let's roll!!!

Already Markstrom looks way better than his last stint with Canucks.

Not that that's saying a lot - but he is looking good so far after one.Hockey Widow wrote:Already Markstrom looks way better than his last stint with Canucks.
Bo had a nice set up for Higgins (shot wide), then missed his chance in front.
Is it just me, or is there a magnifying glass hovering over Pizzaman?

Finally a scoring chance, created by Jensen
...then Grenier.

Markstrom with a very solid period and a half.
Sbisa hitting everything and then some. Still looks like he wants to give the puck away but he is playing with more confidence. That could change after his first few pizzas. He is getting a lot of Bieksa comparisons but I doubt he ever steps up with the fighting.
Tanev looks fast and his hitting more. He looks bigger. He is also carrying the puck more and shooting.
Hutton looks good but not good enough to bump anyone on D. Give him a couple of years and I think he will be a regular.
I really like Grenier and Gaunce. They are hitting and going hard to the net. I think they are both ready for the NHL but don't know if they will show enough to get Benning to dump a couple of vets. Good depth for us.
Edler in mid season form, giving the puck away and not getting the shot through from the point
The Sutter line looks good but I'm not convinced Sutter is the right centre for Vrbata and Baertschi. Horvat may be. He is looking fast.
Higgins....I'm really ready to move on from him. I hope Benning finds a team for him, no matter how bad the draft pick or prospect is. Time to move him out and let one of the kids play.
Jensen really needs to show more to push out a vet.

I'm not watching.....could you clarifySKYO wrote:Finally a scoring chance, created by Jensen

Do you mean to say that finally Jensen did something worth noticing? Or simply that there was finally a scoring chance in general that was incidentally created by Jensen.

Hopefully he carries that into the regular season against NHL regulars.Tanev looks fast and his hitting more. He looks bigger. He is also carrying the puck more and shooting.
With the exception of 2011 that sounds like "all-season" form for Edler.Edler in mid season form, giving the puck away and not getting the shot through from the point
I've been fairly done with both of these guys for a while. Disappointed to hear that nothing has changed with them. Higgins for a 7th and I'm happy. He's a bottom-6 guy and Gaunce or Grenier would definitely be an upgrade simply because they sound willing to play a physical game.Higgins....I'm really ready to move on from him.
