Girardi threw a bigger elbow to the back of Burrow's head after the hit.
Would anyone be surprised if Burrows gets suspended for the rest of the season? Would anyone be surprised if Kassian also gets suspended for being a repeat offender? I wouldn't.

A poor start, no question. But from the 10 minute mark of the first right up until the end of the game the Canucks took the game to the Rangers and all NY could do was collapse to the net as Lundqvist bailed them out. In this game the Canucks conspired against themselves with King Henrik to effectively end any chance of a post-season in Vancouver.
The Good.....
Kassian, Kesler, Bieksa, Burrows, and Mathias, all had strong games and played with a ton of intensity.
Daniel looked his best in a long time, confident even.
The Bad.....
The officiating. Absolutely terrible. You can't get a more obvious interference call to give a team a 5-on-3 than the blown non-call where Bieksa was hauled down in the slot. I seriously don't know how officials fail to call that, but that's what you get when you play in a league that has the worst officiating in all of professional sports. The penalty to Burrows at the end of the game, that's all on McDonaugh for pussing out and not taking the hit from Kassian.
Jensen not being used effectively despite being one of our best offensive players since being called up.
Out of sync. The team just isn't on the same page. Too many cute reverses that were unnecessary and often resulted in the Rangers having an easier time keeping pressure up on the forecheck. Passes not clicking in the offensive zone.
Edler was fucking horrible again.....looked like amateur hour out there on that Ranger's PP goal. And on our PP he is terrible at the point, he can't play the right side so giving him a setup pass for a one-timer is almost pointless, and when he comes down the left boards he has no shooting angle so he opts for a slap pass for a redirect that more often than not goes wide and around up the wall and out of the zone.
We didn't lose this game due to officiating just like we didn't have this miserable year because of them. But boy, when they get it wrong they get it wrong. There is no way I can even remotely see that as a penalty. It was only called because of the injury on the play. The Rags do 't like the hit simply because the game was all but over and they felt is was not necessary. But Burrows finished his check as he should. If the NHL has any credibility left they will not review this and rescind the major.
