The Aquilini's and Gillis are very aware of brand recognition, remember that bug study they undertook and realized the Orca "C" was the most recognizable Canucks logo, which is why they kept it.

Then adding the Vancouver because the city would be on the main stage with the Olympics on the way.

The Canucks name has grown since then, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Canucks nickname was used for Utica as well.

It would promote the Canucks franchise and lead to more revenue. Can't see the Aqulini's turning that down.

As for that school story, Watertown's right on the New York/Ontario border and I would think people would generally know better. Having said that, there's more than a couple in every crowd of Americans and it just says so much more about them when they trot out tripe like that - especially when they don't even understand that that is so.

Doubt anyone would care, most fans over there are already excited at having the Canucks getting an AHL franchise.
