Re: Canucks News and Notes
If Healthy I'd like to see:
Sedin/Sedin/Burrows
/Bonino/Vrbata
Matthias/Richardson/Kassian
Hansen/Horvat/Kenins
Just missing a top six winger

Re: Canucks News and Notes
I see us getting 28 yr old Matt Read, injury prone but he's healthy this season and last, has a reasonable cap hit and is signed through till 2018.Hockey Widow wrote:If Healthy I'd like to see:

Decent Flyers article about trading vs keeping Read..

Jeff Skinner is a buy low situation right now, then of course there is Loui Eriksson but he's only signed for one more year.
Then there's the uber expensive sniper Kessel, who is actually available, but yeah that would cost us obviously a lot.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I'll probably get blasted for this, but I'm going to say it anyway.SKYO wrote:

If Benning could get TO to retain salary (say 3mil) and it doesn't cost the likes of Horvat, Kassian, Virtanen, McCann, Tanev, 1st round picks, I'd consider it.
A 4 mil/year Kessel is good value, the guy knows how to put the puck in the next, would help the PP, wouldn't be labelled as leader on the team - no pressure situation. Just go out there and score goals, something this team always needs every post season. Sure, he's a defensive liability, but all of TO is a defensive liability, including the defense. He's expected to do it all in there, there are enough role players on the Canucks to pick up the slack.
Hank - Dank - Vrbata - Kessel - DMAN - 1st unit PP
He's getting 18-19 mins/game in TO, under Dejardins, his ice time would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 16 mins/game, more manageable.
Re: Canucks News and Notes
For that we would have give up draft picks... not sure I would want the lazy mentality he would bring anywayvic wrote:Hockey Widow wrote:If Healthy I'd like to see:

Yup. That would be an automatic non-starter for season ticket renewal for me too.Uncle dans leg wrote:If Benning trades for Kessel I'm done cheering for the stinky whale

We've got a top 6 winger w/ 10pts in 10 games. Where's Dorsett in your mix? Fixed.Hockey Widow wrote:If Healthy I'd like to see:

Oh wow, I did forget him. The wild card in that, imho, is Bonino. I like his defensive game, usually, he does have a great shot, and he is coming off the injury, but we need him to step up more offensively, assists will do.ClamRussel wrote:We've got a top 6 winger w/ 10pts in 10 games. I like your line up. Vrbata and Bonino, usually, are sound defensively. I think this will help Kassian.

Clutterbuck or Marchand, who is the worst?

Report: NHL investigated alleged Clutterbuck spit on Sedin
Per TSN, the Vancouver Canucks asked the NHL to look into a potential spitting incident involving Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck and Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin, stemming from a goalmouth scrum during the Canucks’ 4-0 win on Long Island Sunday.
From Darren Dreger, on Insider Trading:
“The video evidence here doesn’t show anything, but the Canucks just wanted the league to take a close look. The league did. There was blood everywhere, it was a dangerous situation, but the league found no evidence that any of this took place.
“So as far as the National Hockey League is concerned, it’s case closed.”
There’s no video available of the alleged incident, but Sunday’s game was a chippy affair with Clutterbuck occasionally in the mix. The gritty forward didn’t receive any penalties during the game but did take a swipe at the Vancouver bench late in the third period:
