WPG trades rights to K. Hayes to PHI for a 5th

The Jets gave up Brendan Lemieux and a 1st-rounder for Kevin Hayes and now they dump him for a 5th rounder. Talk about piss poor asset management. Just wow.

They paid the going rate for a legit top 6 forward at the deadline. I don’t think they ever envisioned re upping him.

I didn’t say it was a good trade. It was a steep price but that’s what the prices are when you go after a solid youngish top 6 forward or top 4 d man at the deadline

Brodie I can see but Hamonic plays with balls. Why would they trade him? They need a goalie and not too much else. A little more speed up front too wouldn't hurt.

Why would anyone want to move an NHL team to Brazil?
I mean, there was an ancient city called Atalanta in classical Macedonia, the precursor to Greece, but that city is gone.
The Italian football team, Atalanta BC, is located in Bergamo and is named after the Greek godess Atalanta. It's not a place.

The only freaking place I can find that's called Atalanta is a one horse town in rural Brazil.
Seems a very weird location for an NHL hockey team.

So Karlsson prefers to return to Ottawa or sign in Montreal and is hoping they will field competitive offers. His wife wants to move back to the Ottawa area. If i’m SJ I trade his rights to one of those teams for something. Maybe plus a conditional if he signs.

Apparently Benning was aware of this possibility and it was part of the reasoning in trading him, get something for nothing. His position seems to be NHL or Sweden.

He definitely wants out of Winnipeg. The Jets should find a sign and trade partner and get a massive haul.
