With a full nmc, but maybe a sign and trade? I really doubt he’s moved but I really like him as a player, he’s a class act and can really drive play in the o zone. With the quality of players we have here he’d fit in perfectly.

Careful there Curmey.. by Correcting Gomer on his bullshit, you might be starting an "EPIC" battle...
Battle? Epic as in Joe Kapp-Angelo Mosca epic?

With Gallagher, I like him as a player but I think the Canucks need to add a little size plus I'm not so sure he can continue to play that style for another 6 years without incurring a lot more injury as he gets older.

He punches waaaay above his weight class and is a warrior but you nailed it with his style leading to more injuries down the road.

Its all out the window anyways with todays commitment

Yes, I think they dodged one but who knows whether the rumoured interest was even valid. Plus they have Hoglander coming and I'd rather see if he can be a younger, cheaper, nastier option for that size range.

I bet this rumoured interest was another story that Mickey broke.....has to be true then, no?

Heard on the radio today, Brian Burke said there will/could or has been discussed about a 30% roll back on salaries. This is being discussed with the NHL and NHLPA as the teams cannot afford to pay the players their regular salary without ticket revenue.

I cannot find anything on the internet but then I only looked at Sportsnet so who knows.

IF, and that is a IF, true could it mean that someone like LE becomes something easier to trade for some teams to hit cap floor? Oh God please be true.

Did I break a story here - (sorry Mick)

No this is old news. With the lack of revenue the new CBA agreement has a 20% escrow this season (down to 6% in later years). On top of that there is a 10% additional hold back this season that the players could get back in later years if the revenue improves enough, but it probably won’t so practically the players lose 30% this season off the top of their salaries. It would reduce the cash paid out to Eriksson, but it won’t affect his cap hit. A non-cap team would be more likely to take his salary because the payout is lower, but I think if they were able to find a taker for Eriksson’s salary, it would have been done already. I think Benning was choked not having early round draft picks this season. He seems not very willing to add picks or good prospects out to move Eriksson. He might put Loui in Utica and save a bit over a million on the cap, but moving his whole cap hit to another team seems very unlikely at this point.

I know the Canadians are trying to move Mete, but I thought this forum already decided to reject anyone under six feet. Wasn’t Benning listening?

Hughes and Rathbone are already under six feet. Schmidt and Rafferty are just six feet. We’d much rather have someone with size.

Why does putting Loui in the minors save only $1 million? Doesn't his whole cap hit go with him?

Yeah I don't really get it either, not for JV at least. Maybe if Benn was going the other way, but then why would Montreal do it?

Any cap hit above $1,075,000 sent down counts against the cap, so in Loui’s case $4,925,000 ($6,000,000 - $1,075,000) would still count against the cap if he were sent down.

They really liked Benin’s play on his off-side (right side) as a depth defensemen in Montreal the year before last. Green didn’t use Benn that way much until the playoffs, where I think he looked better. I wouldn’t be surprise if Bergeron wants to trade Mete for Benn for a physical depth role. Green doesn’t often play people on their off-sides. I’ve wanted to see Jake on the left wing for years, but that just doesn’t happen. Tryamkin, Benn, maybe Virtanen, and now Schmidt are players who may play better on their off-sides that another coach might be more willing to experiment with.

So that is how it works. Always wondered about that. Thanks.

We need to factor in the 'retirement variable' if Loui gets tired of AHL buses. I don't have the full equation on that, but it should help our cap, right?
