McLellan out. Hitchcock in.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/oil ... -mclellan/
The former is no surprise. The latter is. Hitch said he was done when he retired from behind the Dallas bench in April.....maybe he wanted to come home and coach and just saw the writing on the wall for Todd.
It's amazing how bad the Oilers suck. Will they be the death of Hitch too?

This could go either way. The one thing about Hitch is that he’s a brilliant mind. Just not sure if the kids will tune in

Joel Quenneville and Todd McLellan are available for hire.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

hfboards Canucks and calgarypuck are panning the move to hire Hitch. The two biggest collections of retarded hockey fans on the inter webs hate it and ridicule it , so there’s a solid chance that this was a very good hire. It’s not often those two cesspools are right about anything

The Oilers made a switch, McLellan out for Hitch.
The Oilers perfect pitch, so long wicked witch!

He's also a defensive systems guru. It's what Edmonton needs.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:24 am This could go either way. The one thing about Hitch is that he’s a brilliant mind. Just not sure if the kids will tune in
There are only a few kids left there right now.
McDavid, Draisaitl, Nurse, Caggiula, Marody, and Benning, are the only current roster players under the age of 25, and McDavid and Marody are the youngest at 21. I've never even heard of Marody btw, so it's not like he's a problem there.
Edmonton needs to get one or two more guys who are 30 and know how to inspire lazy millennial hockey players.

I don't think he'll do any worse than TMac. I think Drai will have some problems with the new coach. Hitch's style may affect McD's point totals. The OIlers haven't been getting good goaltending and their D stinks. He'll make the team play defense first, so that should help out the goaltending. It's a temporary move anyway, so it'll be interesting how it turns out. Personally, I hope the Oilers make the playoffs and are ousted in the first round. That way they won't be in the running to get Hughes.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
McLellan has shown everyone that he can't coach a team that is packed with young talented individuals. He was money in San Jose with a team that had guys like Marleau, Thornton, Burns, and Pavelski.....but they consistently came up short in the playoffs.
No he goes to Edmonton, and has a group of players with talent for miles, and can't get anything out of them.
I also think they were retarded to make McDoofus their captain. He puts up points, but he doesn't know how to lead, he just gets by on raw talent, and he comes across as having about as much emotional investment as Hank and Danny. The Captain needs to show some fire, I would think that anyone who has watched the Canucks over the past 30 years would agree with that.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
If I recall, Hitch has a law and order streak that is demanding, he's also good with younger players. A firm structure. Could be very good for the Oilers.

Every time you hear McDavid speak publicly, he just seems lost in space and has "no" idea what's wrong.
That in itself had to say their system was screwed.
This move can only help. "If the old man can stay healthy".

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Coaching isn't the problem in Edmonton. It's been there drafting in the 1st round in the new Millennium, combined with putrid trades and signings. Not even McJesus can save this sad sack of a hockey organization.
