BJs fail to sign college dman prospect Mike Reilly, who is now a UFA.
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=771300
21 year old offensive dman was scoring at a point/game in U of Minnesota and lead the team in scoring.
Has some history in BC playing in the BCHL, so we could be on his list of teams. Benning is sure to make a pitch for him (assuming he doesn't have attitude issues) with our dman prospect pool and him being in that early 20's range that he's been trying to restock.
EDIT: upon further reading, he is from MN and his dad is a minority stakeholder in the Wild. I don't think we are in the picture at all.

Good for him. He was always a 3rd liner who played tough (and a bit dirty), but, he has had a great career for a "plugger". I wish I'd been paid almost $21 million before I turned 37.Hockey Widow wrote:Hey Minny is buying out Matt Cooke.......JK, JK, JK no really they are buying him out JK about him coming here. Interesting article about life after hockey and transition to real life by former NHLer Sean Avery. You get to see the human side of it all under all the glitz and glamour.

Avery always was smarter than your average NHL'er. His antics, quick wit, and ingenuity as a pest, were proof of that.Todd Bersnoozi wrote:Interesting article about life after hockey and transition to real life by former NHLer Sean Avery. I wonder how many hockey players don't get things figured out as quickly as he seems to have done?

Good article. He should write a book. Would probably be better than most that have been written by ex players.

.
Avery is pathological, I can't believe folks are falling for this rubbish.
The "character he invented" is this brand new one.
The old character was the real Sean Avery!
... ask his teammates in Dallas and New York!!
(you know, the ones who had him kicked off those teams)
"I'm not the psychocunt everyone in the entire Hockey World thinks I am"
Next he'll try to sell you a bridge.... or a book.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!I handled the pressure partly by inventing a character — the tough, ornery Sean Avery that you think you know — and I’d put his game face on before I left for the rink, and I’d take it off when I got home. It was my way of handling all the demands on us to win. And to keep my job. I needed people to hate me. I needed players to come after me in order to stay motivated

Well, a lot of ppl on this board seem to invent a character, guys in hollywood probably do the same thing. It's probably more common than u think.
Maybe instead of the NHL, Avery should of went to the WWE. Might of made a hell a lot of more money. But then again, he's only 35, which is pretty young for a wrestler. He could make a former hockey player type character like the hanson bros or something. GM would luv him!
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Avery interned at Vogue and now works for an ad agency. Not that there is any thing wrong with that.
Ooooooh the cookie monster made the boards go boom. Because his hits were always late.
