I think they would have to play a game one man short before they can do that.

Seattle currently have a coastal theme for all their teams: Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders (although the impending? return of the Sonics breaks that trend). They could try to stay somewhat maritime or coastal, but it seems like the logical choices already exist in another sport (Falcons, Eagles, Ravens, Pirates). Even the, non-Maritime, Metropolitans with its historical connection seems unusable with the New York Mets in existence. Storm? Taken... by Seattle's WNBA team. Seattle Torrent? Nope, already taken by a women's pro-soccer team in Milwaukee.

Regarding bad names, if 'Ducks' has managed to persevere, anything is possible.

So, how about Seattle Flounders?
