Well, big publicly funded projects always run over-budget so maybe that was in the equation.
If there is a majoral election in Calgary in the near future imagine the drama & promises that'll be made.

Just had a civic election in Calgary. The new mayor has really made some waves since getting elected - not swearing in one elected alderman, bring in a "climate crisis" agenda (which wasn't in any of her election platform), sending money to Quebec to fight against that religion thing (teacher canned for wearing a hijab to class), and now moving the goal posts on the arena deal (although it probably would have been cancelled anyway). Climate change agenda isn't well received in Calgary, and neither is Quebec laws, which are totally out of her jurisdiction as a mayor. Needless to say, she hasn't made many friends in Calgary.

The Chef said he was a coward that shouldn’t have even been picked in the top 20 of his draft year. Quite an eye for talent that guy.
Adam Fox for the win.
Who would you pick if you were starting a team?

Back end

Makar
Seider
Heiskanen
Hughes
Fox
Dahlin
Dobson

Ken Holland, Mr Old School.

While I'm a little sad to see Detroit turn it around so fast after he left, I couldn't be happier to have him in the Division

Pretty much where I would have these players. Coin toss between Hughes and Heiskanen.

Funny that Dickie and Dude continue to pile on Noah Dobson. Kid is playing well. On pace for 40-45 points, playing on a Barry Trotz team. He is probably the weakest of these players at this point but a lot can change in 2 - 3 years. He’s also the youngest guy after Seider.

McDavid has always struggled winning championships, goaltending is a problem there yes, but it’s not just goaltending with McDavid teams, he’s no Bergeron or Marchand when it comes to winning big games but he’s certainly the human highlight reel but that doesn’t win you championships.
