Considering how desperate so many teams are for defensive help that speaks volumes that they couldn't trade him. I wonder if he gets claimed just because some teams are desperate.
The only HW the Canucks need

He's a warm body on defense, I wouldn't be surprised to see him (along with another warm body at another position where numerous teams have problems, netminder Josh Harding, who is on waivers today) being claimed.

That said the Stars didn't see fit to give him any kind of role on their awful blueline and have started auditioning AHLers so anyone claiming KC is sure to have limited expectations at best.

I guess that answers my question from a few weeks ago back when we played Dallas asking if Connauton was actually a NHL caliber defenceman.

Hopefully the Canucks take advantage of their Friday loss giving them a much higher waiver wire position to grab KC!!

If the Canucks grab him, does he not become the 2nd-best defensive prospect in our system?

One of the worst defensive teams in the league places a bubble NHL blue liner on waivers? Methinks he'll be playing in the minors next game.

You might be right, we wouldn't want the confusion of two teams both using whales as their mascots.

Think of the rivalry that Pucky could have with Fin though...

I knew Jack Johnson was a dunce, but letting your mom manage your finances until age 27 (and until she's run them into the ground)?

Jesus.
