I try to be as well...but there are limits. As far as I'm concerned, the oilers got their Cups and they wallow in the basement for all eternity.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Obviously I want to everything continue to go wrong in that organization, but I do think that the writing will be on the wall for them and McDavid in his last season and he will be dealt if they don’t have an extension in place before the deadline.....that’s assuming he doesn’t request a trade before then.RoyalDude wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 7:30 amYeah I agree. McDavid won't retire an Oiler, his UFA retirement contract will be with another team ala John Tavares. 7 years after this season until current contract expires he will be 29 at the time
...but remember when Gretzky would never be traded out of Edmonton? Didn't Poklington promise that?

Already available via OilNation lol...
Bob Nicholson's presser did not disappoint.

There is some justification to a few of these, but many are just strange
Hall trade - party boy had to go in a shakedown, this is a classic Keenen/Tortorella move
Eberle trade - bad
Giving up on Schultz - very puzzling
Lucic signing - bad, so were a lot of FA signings that year....glad he chose the Chirelli over Benning (what did HW say her friend told her?)
Futures for back up Talbot - bad
Puljujarvi pick - I'll wait on that one, at the time Laine/Mathews and Pulju were all closely ranked
Spooner Strome - worse than Eberle trade
Russell signing - should have taken Hamuis LOL
Caggiula trade - ????
Sekeres? - was that Chia
Reinhart acquisition - awful
What kind of script is Katz writing contracts on?

The 2 that really stand out for me are the Reinhart, and Eberle trades. Eberle should have been for a futures package, prospect and high pick get more of the universal trade currency. And whoever targetted Reinhart should be canned immediately. He also needed to adapt to the faster game. You got the fastest skater on the planet you can’t have him playing with maroon, draisatl, Lucic, Kassian, Larsson, etc. They should have cut ties with draisatl after he banged nurse’s sister, could have got a legit top 2 dman for him before signing that contract.Topper wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 11:51 am There is some justification to a few of these, but many are just strange

I thought Nicholson was going to cry at that point of the presser.
Adamant denial of Lowes role in hockey ops......does anyone buy it?

They generally do take BPA on their first pick. Don't see anything much after that. Scary bad.

Their trading exploits would have to be considered the worst, or close, for the last ten years.

Manning for caggiula is a bad one. BM makes over 2 mill a year to be their 10th best dman! LOLTopper wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 11:51 am There is some justification to a few of these, but many are just strange

Apparently the Oilers are rumoured to be very interested in Judd Brackett. Noooooooo! Not our secret weapon. Fuck off Edmonton!

And your friends at hfboards are hoping he gets the Oilers gig and that Chiarelli comes here.

The GillisGropers/BenningBooHoo’s at Canucks HF have lost the plot completely. A team of psychiatrists need to study their behaviours. It’s weird shit over there. Every single one of their posts comes with a hint of the BenningBooHoo’s. It’s beyond obsessed. It’s a sickness

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
According to rumors, your buddy Gillis' name is being bandied about as a candidate for Oilers GM. He's been desperately trying to get back into a front office position for awhile.
Word though is he's really interested in the position in Seattle.
