Why does this Subban - Weber deal make any sense for Nashville? They get 3 years younger with PK, but lose defense, and leadership without gaining any offense. Did they get the feeling he might not re-sign? Or, is it just sell high?

Interesting, to say the least.

The only thing I know is that PK was being heavily shopped at the draft. Benning did kick the tires and was willing to give up the earth and the moon. But Benning did not have another high caliber D man to offer back. Edmonton was all over this as well. But they did not have a high caliber D man to offer back. Bergevin was intent on getting back a top D man in exchange and he got what he wanted.

This is a good deal for both teams.

This is a great old fashioned hockey trade.
Aha. I wondered how Weber could have been traded so easily. No trade protection clause. Must be a tough pill for Weber to swallow...he was an icon in Nashville.

The Preds might flip PK in a year or two.

Re-sign? Hell Weber is sign until, like, ya 2100,,,

Why does this make sense? Cap, term remaining, age.

Question is why did Montreal want PK gone so bad.

Yeesh, no kidding!

I guess he had automatic one-year trade protection from the offer sheet-match, but that's it.

Preds had the choice of adding it in. They chose not to. Weber and his GM tried to get them too but they refused. And good on them.

Yes, why did Montreal want PK gone so bad?

PK is a fan favourite in Montreal and has embraced the city like crazy.

Bergevin is getting roasted for this. This trade doesn't really make any sense from Montreal's perspective.

I'm sure PK will say something soon, I'm real curios too!

....and Vancouver vets apparently feel unloved

So what has become of
Fall for Hall
Fail for Nail
Loose for Nuge
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

These trades look terrible for the Oil and Habs repsectively. I don't care about culture change, you have to get equal value or at least close to it for your players. PK is better than Weber right now while being 5 years younger, while Hall is a very good LWer and Larsson is young but still a bit of a project. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Stamkos staying in TBay makes sense, though they'll have some major surgery to do on their roster now.

Assuming Lucic to the Oil is done, and I assume it is, I guess we're going after Eriksson, Brouwer, Ladd et al.

Montreal just inherited a huge cap recapture penalty, potentially.

Time to trade with Tampa, they gonna be in cap hell asap with Stamkos signed.

These guys are gonna paid no matter what, probables:

Kucherov $6M-$7M

Hedman $9M, Johnson $6M-$7M per

Killorn.

Next season Palat and Drouin will need new contracts.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
