Still. If I'm the, I don't know, the Jets or someone else who is not going to be winning the Ilya Kovalchuk sweepstakes but plays in a division with a team that could, there's no way I'd let him back into the league.Aaronp18 wrote:He would be an UFA.Zedlee wrote: I would think it's highly unlikely that all 30 teams would approve his return. Why would any team AGREE to let him come back and play for the Devils, making them a stronger opponent? He may well have to sit out one year.
He wouldn't automatically be on the Devils, he would be free to sign where he chooses and to whatever teams wants him.

Without question. The earliest I see him back in the NHL is 2017 when only the Devils have to approve his return.dbr wrote: Still. And that's maybe if he signs with them, or maybe a sign and trade if that's allowed.

The league is reintroducing compensation for hiring management/coaching staff under contract. Some obvious problems to me, what happens if a team does not have the requisite draft pick available? What happens if a team wants to pull a Vancouver and hire a plethora of new staff?
It only applies to persons under contract so not a Babcock situation. I assume too if someone has been fired, but still under contract, there must be some sort of exemption, one would think.
Anyway, a throw back of sorts but I liked it better when teams could negotiate.
per LeBrun:
If it is an off-season hire of a head coach/GM/President of Hockey ops that is under contract, the team must give up a 3rd.
If it is an in-season hire of a coach/GM/President of Hockey ops that is under contract, the team must give up a 2nd.
Coach's season ends when his team's season ends.
A GM or President of hockey ops season ends after the draft.

Speaking of that, look for Jordin Tootoo and Ryan Malone to be inducted soon.

All right exactly what hockey needs a crack addict as an example for the Canadian youths to look up to.

From your article:Cornuck wrote:I wish.... so does the HHOF......

Also:Regarding Rob Ford on HHOF Board..HHOF does not decide who is nominated and elected by the City of Toronto to the HHOF Board. Under HHOF's Articles of Incorporation, the City has the right to nominate and elect up to 3 individuals to the eighteen member Board.

Well, if they wanted people to start wondering out loud whether or not the city of Toronto should have this "right", mission accomplished. I'm sure the NHL is not happy. The city of Toronto nominates three representatives to the hall’s 18-member board of directors (the NHL, by comparison, nominates seven). It’s an acknowledgement, dating back to 1961 when the hall opened at Exhibition Place, of the partnership the city’s had in being home to the hockey museum, said Jeff Denomme, president and chief executive of the Hall.

I don't see what this has to do with the leaves - but the leaves and Ford would be the same pile. Maybe they could just not take their trash out to the HHOF.okcanuck wrote:I love it, Rob Ford, Toronna Maple Laughs, same shit different pile.
In the end, just another reason to hate Toronto.

According to Brooksie, Tortorella's favourite trout, the Kings locked Sutter out of their locker room post game.
Twice after road losses. LOL

Can we toss Sutter's stetson into the leaves viper pit?Brooks writes:
Slap Shots has been told by two sources that the Kings locked the door to their locker room following a defeat on the road within the last two weeks so that Sutter could not get in and deliver what the players apparently expected to be another in a series of lectures/tirades.
As the tale was told, after Sutter finally tracked down an arena operative to unlock the door, he was greeted by three heavy waste receptacles lined up as barricade to what had become an empty room.
