Some players have more heart

Post by Per »

From Aftonbladet:

Stopped by heart condition – comforted by the Sedins

Kristian, 16: ”It feels incredible that they take the time”

A heart condition stopped Brynäs’s Norwegian junior player Kristian Nervik Nilsen from continuing with hockey. This week he found a silver lining as the Sedin brothers invited him to Vancouver.
“It feels incredible that they take the time to stop and think about things like this,” says Kristian to Gefle Dagblad.
A month ago Kristian Nervik Nilsen received the message that would change his life. A genetic heart condition prevents him from continuing with hockey. He’s not even allowed to practice with Brynäs’s B-juniors any longer.
When Daniel and Henrik read about Kristian’s tragic fate they acted . They sent a letter and a signed hockey stick that has been used in an NHL game to Brynäs’s head office.
“I was stunned. It said that I was invited to Vancouver, and apart from meeting them I’ll also get to watch an NHL game. It’d be a fantastic experience! We’ll see if it comes true.. The stick will get a special place any way,” says Kristian.
The Sedin twins were last year nominated to the Foundation Award, an award given to an NHL player who has enriched life for people in the society.
“It feels incredible that they take the time to stop and think about these things. I mean, they are superstars and of course huge in Norway as well. These are players I’ve looked up to and had as role models,” says Kristian.

Yeah. I gotta agree. I put those two in my beer and bbq category. Definately great guys who give back to the community - and they'd probably be right at home in someone's back yard with a cold one watching the steaks grill.

20 ounce T-bones, aged 28 days right off the family farm, cold beer and farm fresh veggies. :)

Doesn't matter. It took 17 long years for the hockey gods to forgive us for disgracing the game with riots in '94.

I said this last year, they need to get in touch with their inner Viking and forget their fair, equal and sensitive socialist side...start raping and pillaging for ChristMilburys sake! You live in Vinland now! It's our way of life...take from the natives and give unto ourselves.... 8-)
I love every move Jim Benning makes 8-)

Hey guys, I understand that not EVERY player on a team can be an asshole.

I understand that a team needs a few fancy boys, that is as long as they can

.... dangle, dipsy-doodle, go coast-to-coast, go around stay-at-home defenders like hoops-around-barrels, ... as long as they can control the flow, cycle the puck along the boards, split the dee, pressure the dee down low, deak & circle with the puck on a string, execute give-and-goes & tic-tac-toes, create odd-man rushes... as long as they are able to saucer pass, flip pass, flat pass, back pass, and headman the puck tape-to-tape... as long as they know how and when to go five-hole, stick-side, glove-side, upstairs-where-momma-keeps-the-cookies (and when to attempt a wrap-around or bank it in off the tender for that matter)... as long as they can snipe, rip wristers, launch howitzers, fire lasers with mustard & pinpoint accuracy, bang home one-timers, make tip-ins from just outside the paint, jump on rebounds and then bury the biscuit in the basket, light the lamp, twinkle the twine, ripple the mesh...

*pauses to catch breath*

Yeah if yer fancy boys can do most of that on a regular basis, great.

But hey you NEED a good number of assholes to protect yer fancy boys. :mex:
