NHL POWER RANKINGS: CANUCKS AND PHILADELPHIA DEC.27/28, 2010

Post by DavidPratt_ »

KIDS,

IT NEVER FAILS. THE EASTERN US MEDIA HAS THEIR BIASES. WITNESS:

TSN HAS THE CANUCKS RANKED #1, PHILADELPHIA #7:

http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/rankings/nhl/

ESPN HAD PHILADELPHIA RANKED #1, VANCOUVER #3:

http://espn.go.com/nhl/powerrankings

FOX SPORTS HAS PHILADELPHIA RANKED #1, VANCOUVER #2

http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/powerRankings

AFTER VANCOUVER HAMMERED THE FLYERS 6-2 TONIGHT, WONDER WHERE ESPN AND FOX WILL RANK THE CANUCKS NOW?

Fred...did you mean eastern media? ....oh ya I forgot...all the Canadian media is under the control of the east...oops.....
Pratt I love the east bashing...keep it up....
Power Rankings are for idiots.....I go to a site called the 'NHL'...I look up a thing called the 'standings'.....its shows how the team has done in the last 10 games......its not that hard...
unless you want BS .....

PHIL is like every team that has PRONGER....he is so good that with him you have a chance at the CUP.....Pronger would have made Kesler less dominant....maybe not Malholtra or H Sedin...Pronger can't be everywhere...& the Canucks are that good....

Dunno Pratt.. before the game Canucks and Philly had virtually the same record except the Flyers had a slightly higher goals differentialand their goaltenders both had better stats than Luongo.. So can understand them being ranked above Vancouver. I look at goal differential plus last 10 games played as a rough indicator of relative ranking.. Though for my money the East is slightly weaker than the west so the results are often skewed.. ESPN.. never gets it right :).. Fox had 5 west and 5 east teams in the top 10.. Team I am looking at as dangerous in the West is LA.. think they are underated !

Thanks to last night's game, we now have the best winning percentage in the league at .700. We can let Crosby get all the press with his point streak, we can quietly take over.

I believe that it was in January (leading up to the Olympic break) last season that Henrik racked up several multi-point games to catch up to and pull away from OV and Crosby in the scoring race, too.

As long as the Canucks are in the top 5 I am pretty pleased. Rankings only mean so much until the playoffs really start. That's when it's time to really measure what the team is made of...if we based it on Philly last year and the Canucks last year...then yeah, rankings are right.

As far as this year goes, pretty neck and neck, but again to me it doesn't really matter. Eastern media bias or not, the Canucks will have to knuckle-up in the New Year and into the post season.
