Just as bad, man why can't we get Hughson, he's a west coast announcer...no, no, no Toronto always has to have the A-team. The west always gets the scraps which in the past actually used to be good w/ Cuthbert or Hughson...man, most of these ex-goalies have been terrible as colour guys imo.nucklehead_88 wrote:ClamRussel wrote:YES!!! That's because they only see the game from one aspect of the game.
Goalies are always the odd kid of the group.

yea goalies are a whole other breed. Jelly makes a good point, they only see the game from one end.

Re: Tommy Larscheid (70), hangs 'em up
Growing up listening to Jim Robson and Tom Larscheid was "Canuck fan heaven", even if it was for only 3 hours at at time. No one painted the picture better than Robson and Larscheid was his perfect frame.
When Shorty took over, Tommy made him feel at ease and their chemistry was awesome.
Yes Tommy is up there in age, but it's like a piece of your own personal history leaving.
Last season, Chris (Mr.LB) and I were waiting for the elevator from our seats, which were on the same level as the media. Coming out of the media doors were Tommy and Shorty. The elevator was taking forever for some reason and we had a great conversation with the two of them. The Canucks lost that night and it was a tough pill to swallow, because they should have won that game.
Larscheid and Shorty actually were quite somber that night, and said to Chris and I, "It was a tough game to call," after we said it was hard game to watch. Tommy then added "Actually at my age, all games are getting tough to call." I knew then and there that he was thinking retirement despite if the TEAM wanted him replaced.
I have a few Larscheid stories over the years, but this was the most recent one and it was definitely one where I felt he was ready to call it a career.
Thank you Tommy for all the memories. Canucks radio broadcasts will never be the same without you.

Good article on Tommy - He'll be calling the season opener - then that's it. :/

Bertuzzi: "Why did you say I was a floater?"
Larscheid: "I never said you were a floater."
Bertuzzi: "Well, what did you say?"
Larscheid: "I said you were a candy-ass."
Bertuzzi stormed away, beaten, while teammates close enough to have heard the conversation wet themselves laughing.
Doc: "BTW, Donny was right, you're smug."
Re: Tommy Larscheid (70), hangs 'em up
Larscheid should start a twitter account and just do his comments there.
He would get more followers then his replacements.

I am no Larscheid fan by any means but he is a passionate, nice man if nothing else. I met him at a gold tourney a few years ago and he is a real nice fella who loves this team and the city. He was a homer and he didn't know the game that well but I wish he'd hang around for another year just so i don't have to listen to Dave Thomlinson. Not that I listen to the game on AM very much but there are times when you are in the car and have to listen to a period here or there on the radio. Thomlinson is a piece of shit.

Do you like him? He has the personality of a wet mop and the charisma of a gumboot. He has no attachment to this team and he has a grand total of three points and 40 games in the NHL, yet he rambles on about "when he played in the league". You didn't play in the show you fucking schmuck and it's not just that- he just seems like a drip. The TEAM's answer to Warren Sawkiw I guess. Some loser who booted around the minors and has a very average knowledge to go with a bland, vanilla personality.Island Nucklehead wrote:Tell us how you really feel Blob.Blob Mckenzie wrote:Thomlinson is a piece of shit.
He reminds me of when Garry Monahan used to do color with Robson, but at least Monahan had the chops to play in the league for 10 years. Monahan was also dryer than a popcorn fart.

I didn't even look up Tomlinson's stats before, but thanks for posting it.
It does confirm my believe that he's a tool, and have no freaking clue what the hell he's talking about.
The Canucks wants someone that's politically correct, they got him.
I won't even tune into 1040 anymore after the first game of the year.

Re: Tommy Larscheid (70), hangs 'em up
Very strange post blob. You dislike Dave for not being like Tom, whom you dislike also. Plus, once I read someone calling Tom a homer now I know they don't know what they're talking about and using that for a personal grip. I thought I got past educating people about what's a homer and what isn't. Stupid
If true I'm pissed at the team pushing Tommy out; why the hell do that? ONE MORE YEAR!! As noted, it sure would be unfair to the greatest extent if the Canucks win his first year out.. ouch! He's the best. Dam
I liked Dave alot as host with Blake, he'll be fine but it will take some years to get used to the fact Tommy's not there anymore.

I can just imagine what you would have said during Tommy's first year, an ex football player doing hockey colour.. wow that would have been nasty.Jelly wrote:I didn't even look up Tomlinson's stats before, but thanks for posting it.

Comments like these are expected with someone new.
Now comments on garret being a tool, I can go along with.
